Time does not heal all wounds.

Most people have no idea how to apologize.

They see vulnerability as weakness. And they have a ton of toxic shame around their behavior, so they avoid it.

They think time heals the wound and ignoring it makes it go away.

If I can give one teaching to the world that would really change it I would say: acknowledge and apologize.

I see so people with parents who’ve done deeply hurtful things shut down or deny any pain they’ve caused. Or just contact them as if nothing happened.

I see partners expect another partner to just forgive and forget without giving them the space to express how their actions impacted them.

I see family members say “well that’s just your dad, and it happened years ago” without understanding that in order to move forward we need the wound to be acknowledged. That’s how we heal.

Time doesn’t heal all wounds.

Difficult conversations do.

Vulnerability does.

Apologies and change behavior do.

Time does nothing except make the memory fade— but the body never forgets

I’ve found great power in changing the word manipulation to strategy…attention seeking to connection seeking…and now I will use this, experiences instead of consequences. Language, presentation, and connection are everything.

Neurofeedback is a gym for your brain. If you find yourself stuck in the same negative feedback loop, the same toxic cycle, the same chronic issues; then request a free consult for neurofeedback training. We provide a thorough evaluation with questionnaires, attention and memory tests, and qEEG assessment. You’ll train for 20 sessions along with having therapy sessions to address specific individualized goals. After the 20th session, you’ll have a new brainmap conducted so that we can see the changes towards normalization. Most feel a difference even after the 2nd session, others will see more changes around session 15. For those with complex trauma, it can take up to 40-60 sessions. We have many protocols to address different issues to include PTSD, ADHD, depression, cognitive issues, anxiety, and chronic pain/headaches.

A “Back to School Necklace” may seem innocent enough; however, it’s a new trend with students as they express their need for help….or even worse, suicidal ideations.

We don’t want parents, friends, teachers, or others to be alarmed with this outcry; rather, it’s an opportunity to help a child out who’s feeling alone, sad, threatened, or even hopeless/helpless.

Su***de in children between the ages of 10-12 years of age have increased drastically, while statistics for older teens have also risen in the last few years. Social media has an incredible influence in many ways (good and bad) on how others perceive themselves. Now that school is starting back, we need to be more vigilant and responsive to our youth immediately.

Ways you can help:

1. Ask, “Are you ok?”
2. Improve your communication with your child by talking “with” and not just “at” them
3. Seek help in counseling individually
4. Start family counseling
5. Contact the su***de hotline: 1-800-273-8255.
6. If your child needs immediate attention, please take them to the nearest ER to be evaluated and schedule them for immediate counseling.

Brain mapping includes a qEEG, symptom questionnaires, physiological risk assessment, and cognitive/attention/memory testing. Once that’s all collected, we are able to see what’s really going on “under the hood.” Brain mapping is one of THE best ways to find out what’s truly going on and gives us a map on how we can start treating and training.

WellMind neurofeedback services are not standalone. We incorporate psychotherapy to help with your healing and training. You get the full service treatment at WellMind. Call to secure your appointment.

Rationalizing mass shootings is a complex task. There are too many variables that present themselves in a cacophony for us to even pick one reason.

What we do know is that violent offenders have shown to have severe brain dysfunction particularly to the frontal lobes, anterior cingulate gyrus, and temporal lobes.

This is caused by several factors to include issues with exposure to drugs and/or alcohol in utero, exposure to violence in the home, severe neglect and abuse, being bullied, lack of love, lack of connection to others, social media presenting perfect lives with life itself is naturally full of failures and mishaps, access to assault weapons when a child’s brain is not even fully developed and when their car insurance premiums are the highest for the same reason, anoxia, inflammation in the brain, violent video games that encourage accuracy over empathy, nutritional deficits, increased loneliness and suicidal ideations, demonizing the other opponent in politics, lack of purpose, head traumas from contact sports, the prescriptions to young children with black box warnings. Thank you for capturing the reality of this and sharing your knowledge of the facts and not just opinions.

We have to start treating the problem at its core and that starts earliest in life and it will take all of us to do our part because there is not only one reason…this is an evolution of so many factors in a person’s life.

We often think of grounding and anchoring as one and the same. They both are vital for us to orient and stay in the present moment.

Grounding brings us the the here and now. Have you ever said, “I don’t even know what day of the week it is!” Try bringing your attention to today’s date, remind yourself of your age (many of us forget that too!).

Anchoring is using your five sense to stay grounded. Try taking off your shoes and feeling the cool flooring under your feet. Take a whiff of your favorite perfume or pass essential oils under your nose. Slow down your eating and really taste each bite. Notice the temperature around you. Close your eyes and try to hear a distant sound.

Keep breathing all throughout this process.

Jon Kabat-Zinn’s book, Full Catastrophe Living is a favorite. It teaches you simple skills to live in the present moment without attachment, without judgment.
