The event is free of charge and features two keynote speakers and a poster session that includes several graduate and undergraduate student presenters from psychology. The UTEP Psychology faculty joined together last month to celebrate the retirement of one of our esteemed faculty members and former department chair, the Helen M.C. and J. Edward Stern Endowed Professor, Dr. Edward Casteñeda. Dr. Casteñeda was a former UTEP undergraduate and graduate student, earning his MA in General Psychology at UTEP in 1980 before going on to earn his PhD at the University of Michigan in 1987. Dr. Castañeda’s research focused on understanding the neurochemical processes underlying changes in behavior associated with conditions like Parkinson’s disease and substance use disorder.
Congratulations Dr. Castañeda! We wish you the best on your new adventure and hope you enjoy retirement! 👏
