Adrian and Amy as the new Directors of King’s Kids and Vinnie taking on the role of an advisory elder. We are very excited to see how the Lord uses each of them in these new positions!
Local Team is starting in September!

Dates you should know:
• Parent meeting on Aug 18th
• Application deadline is on Aug 25th
We would love to see you this fall!
This year we sent a team to the Republic of Georgia to partner with a local church there! We have been here for 18 days now and will be here for 12 more. The first week we helped run a camp in Marneuili with Muslim kids ages 7-14. Now we are in a town in the mountains called Bakuriani helping with two other camps with a mixture of Georgian, Kurdish, and Russian kids. Our time here has been filled with a lot of planning and sweet fellowship with new friends!
Kicking off the new year of King’s Kids with family team weekend. We had a blast playing games and having our families bond together and work as a team. Our theme of this year Assemble! Based off of Hebrews 10:24-25 “ and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” ’skids
We're so excited about the new school year starting up and steps we're taking to make this a great year at King's Kids. We have some new staff, committed leadership and God's guidance to reach people with the Gospel and make disciples this year. Here are some important dates:
---fill out your streamlined Family Team application at https://forms.gle/p9xFWwNZZ87PSENJ9
---turn it in by August 28
---At least one parent needs to be at the Parents' Meeting at King's Kids, 936 Sunset, 79922 from 2-4PM. We'll talk about the vision for the year, introduce staff, give you the full calendar for the year and show new families around our amazing ministry center.
---Discipleship Courses will begin Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 7-9PM at King's Kids. An Eastside carpool will leave at 615PM.
---Parents, you know that due to the pandemic and the kids who graduated or left during that time, King's Kids is much smaller than it used to be. We need your help getting the word out to families who are on the same page with us in raising their kids to love and follow the Lord.
This would be a great time to invite families who may be interested in what we do in King's Kids. Please put them in touch with us or bring them with you to the Parents' Meeting.
Feel free to call with any questions. My cell is 915-276-8273.

Here is a short video of highlights from Spring Break Outreach 2022
SBO 2022 Video Wrap up of King's Kids El Paso's Spring Break Outreach 2022.
We have been cleared from last weeks suspected exposure to COVID, so we are back on for tonight. So come join us at 6pm for volleyball and spike ball. We will have a time of worship around 8pm. Looking forward to seeing you all.
Good morning everyone...due to a possible COVID exposure we are going to cancel tonight's Community Night. This is just a precaution as it hasn't been confirmed, and we will keep you updated about other gatherings as we learn more.
Beginning September 6th Community Night will be moving to Mondays. Come join us for volleyball and games at 6pm followed by an intimate time of worship and sharing. We look forward to seeing you there.
Dear Senior Team, Junior Team and Parents,
The big news about our teams
You know that the pandemic made a mess of everyone’s plans for the last 17 months, and KK was very affected as our staff and interns got sick, we had a lockdown and many obstacles hit us.
Two years of graduating seniors and not as many new kids coming in have left our teams smaller, but we have great kids involved in both teams.
In prayer, I was surprised to find God saying that it was time to combine into one team. As we compared notes, Cam and Laura, Ryan, and Caitlin (our core staff before adding the interns and others who will become staff in the fall) all had the same impression, and we discussed this with the interns.
Everyone agrees that this is God’s leading, with a key focus on building families that King’s Kids has internationally becoming our goal here as well. So we’ve prayed more and have an exciting strategy.
How it will look
Once a month we’ll have a team weekend. This frees up families who have kids in both age groups from two weekends per month being taken up with KK.
Teenagers 14+ will come Friday night for a teenage-only time, doing our usual things including fellowship, worship, teaching, action groups, guys and girls time, snack and an overnight stay. We want to be careful none of the senior teamers feel they have lost this important time with friends and with the Lord.
The next day, Saturday from 9AM-5PM, kids ages 9-13 will join in. This includes worship, age appropriate teaching and training for outreach, lunch and then the outreach. We will also take time for “Building” weekends. More on that later.
So far it’s not that much different, except for all of the teams being together. But here’s the new part. We want parents and younger siblings from both teams (below age 9, so they ordinarily wouldn’t be part of the teams), all the way down to babies in the family, to join us for the 9AM-5PM time. We have plans developing to make this a time that bonds families closely, provides lots of fun and memory making, and serving the Lord together. We’ll make special allowances for families with little ones, including nap spaces in the hacienda.
We may need to have multiple, age appropriate outreaches at the same time to accomplish this, but there are definitely some things that are a lot of fun for all ages to do, such as the farm, pretend mission trip day, etc.
If you’re not sure how this will work, you’ll have to just come and see! We are sure you will enjoy this and grow together with your family.
And we welcome your input. Any changes bring growing pains and the need to adjust plans. Your suggestions on how to best accommodate the whole family and serve as a group are very welcome.
Fees and Schedules
• All kids on the teams will be $250 for the year. This includes a T shirt and all the team weekends.
• We’re asking parents who join us for the day to give $4 to cover their lunch and a snack, and little sisters and brothers ages 3+ to give $3 to cover their food.
• Parents and other siblings can order T shirts by Oct. 1.
• Because the pandemic is still a big mess, we don’t know how the usual big senior team events will go. Those include the WHY apologetics training conference, It’s YOUR World citywide youth outreach, the IGNITE weekend near Albuquerque and the new JUMPSTART event we’re planning with local churches.
• While we hope that those can happen, as well of course Spring Break Outreach and next summer’s mission trip, we will need to see as things develop.
• All of those are outside of the local team fees and will be individual costs, but are reasonable fees.
Here’s our schedule for this school year. There may need to be adjustments, and we will give you as much advance notice as possible. Pray that there are no more lockdowns and other disruptions as there were last year!
Sept. 17-18
Oct. 22-23
Nov. 12-13
Dec. 10-11
Jan. we are still working on the plan, since this is usually the Senior Team retreat month. There will be a weekend for all ages.
Feb. 18-19
March Spring Break Outreach week. We are waiting for final word from our host church, St. Clement, on the best week of the two weeks that school is out to hold our week there.
April 8-9
May 13-14
June- July summer outreach, probably for a week of training here and three weeks overseas. We don’t have a destination yet but we’re working on it and will present it to everyone as soon as we can.
As our conference in Egypt showed us once again, King’s Kids is booming around the world and affecting countless lives. But the emphasis globally is not just on children and teenagers, it’s building solid Christian families in an era that family life is under such spiritual attack, encouraging bonding of parents and kids with fun and good communication, avoiding the split that often happens as teenagers develop lives that are cut off from their parents, and helping the entire family to love and serve Jesus together.
Do these sound like your goals, too? Then come and join us! And invite like minded families to see what KK is doing this year. They will need to contact us for an application and meet for an interview before they come to a team meeting.
Feel free to contact me directly at 915-276-8273 with any questions.

Vinnie Carafano

Dear Senior Team, Junior Team and Parents,
Our staff and interns are excited about the upcoming year! Here is some news so you can catch up on what has been happening, and then some great plans for the year.
Intern Update
Our eight interns from last year have graduated and we’re proud of them. We saw the Lord work in many ways in their own lives and through them to serve KK’s ministries and our city. They are a great bunch of young adults.
• Keegan Webb and Anna Casey got married in a beautiful ceremony at KK. They will be joining our staff and specifically working with the internship and IDC.
• Staci Miller will become a staff member and oversee our Sandoval ministry. She has done a super job with it over the last year.
• Chris Stopani will stay on as staff and work with the internship and other ministries.
• Brendon Ferraro, Caleb Knorpp and Nathaniel Rascon will continue to connect with KK and serve in various ways as volunteers. Alison Alcantar will be our cook for the interns.
• Seven new interns will start here September 1, and they are eager to serve the Lord with us and grow over the next year. They will be living at KK and involved in everything we do.
Community Night
We ended the Tuesday night Bible study for the summer and began Community Night, led by Ryan Stead. Lots of teenagers and college agers have been coming for fellowship, volleyball, worship and discussion. This is really a great new ministry and so we’re continuing through the school year but changing it to Monday nights from 6-9 PM.
Egypt Trip
Cam and Laura Mangin and Vinnie went to Egypt for 12 days to participate in the King’ Kids International Leaders Assembly, which takes place every five years. We led workshops and worship and connected with leaders from all over the world.
Discipleship Course start up Sept. 7 on Tuesdays through the school year.
• We’re doing all three courses on the same night this year, which will put less wear and tear on families and make carpooling easier.
• An Eastside carpool will leave from the Carafanos’ home at 6:15 sharp every Tuesday.
• All courses are 7-9PM.
• MSDC is for Middle Schoolers ages 12-14, led by new staff member Bethany Mangin, Cam’s sister.
• The Intensive Discipleship Course is for 15-17 year olds, led by Keegan Webb.
• And EDC for older teenagers and college agers, led by Vinnie Carafano. This year we will have a powerful study through the book of Psalms. It’s the third time we’ve done this study through the years and it will change your life!
Stay tuned for the big announcements about exciting plans for the local team ministry!

We were blessed last week to hold our 2021 Spring Break Outreach. Attendance was smaller than normal, but it was more intimate and God did some amazing things.
Our teams of youth and interns ministered to the homeless, children at risk, assisted a local charity plant vegetables heading to the food bank, and did evangelism downtown and nearby neighborhoods.
It was a fun week and we all stayed healthy. Praise God!
