Artist Statement

“The tradition in which I work is the impressionist school of oil painting. Unlike other “schools” or vogues of painting, Impressionism is a full blown comprehensive school of art and its energy has never been exhausted. I consider my work to be an extension of the impressionist school. The direction in which my work has taken me, again, involves giving primacy to color, of allowing color to evoke form, rather than form dictating color. Monet, Sisley, Pissarro are the painters whose work I attempted to build upon. It is their work that has laid the foundation and it is the great strength of that work that has given me the freedom to pursue their tradition and I pursue it in gratitude and joy.” - Alberto Escamilla

In its 9th year, IEOTC 2024 once again embraces photography as an artistic art form unto itself.

Whether captured by film or digital camera, we snap the world around us to remember moments in time, tell a story, document history, or to make images sing with digital editing.

The EPAA is happy to open this call to photographers as we have cameras at our fingertips and unlimited imaginations. So, let photography unlock your creativity in this phabulous photo exhibit.

The Crossland Gallery is a terrific place to visit for awesome art in El Paso. It’s also a friendly and might I say air conditioned gallery to visit to escape heat of the day.

Many out of towners stop by when they are here for business or pleasure. We even had two sold pieces that are on their way to the UK….

Also, it’s a great place for folks from El Paso looking for something to do with the kiddos!

Heading into August, we reflect on the day five years ago that changed El Paso & Juarez forever. A beautiful Saturday afternoon brimming with life to be shattered by hate. Now, it's time to remember the 23 beautiful lives that were taken from loved ones, family, friends, our community and to remember the ones that were injured. We stand together in hope that the healing continues and the pain subsides and those most effected know that they have a community behind them to help through this painful time. When someone tears out a piece of your heart, you come back stronger than ever. . . .together.
