GOD of the universe, how is it that we matter to You? We think of our mark here--how small and insignificant--and it just astonishes us that You count us so precious. The significance You give us by caring so deeply inspires us to live a life of greater meaning. Your delight in us is unexplainable, and we are so grateful. Amen.

How hard is it for you to fathom God's incredible delight in you?

Creativity

We are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the goof things HE planned for us long ago.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

LORD, You made the world so beautiful, interesting, and exciting. You made people so unique and lovable, work so rewarding, and play so much fun. Please help us appreciate Your creation and recognize that You have given us the ability to be creative as well. We want to use our creativity for Your glory. Amen.

How can you use your creativity for God?

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "Thevinsults of those who insult you have fallen on me."

Lord Your words are beautiful, life giving, and inspiring. I wish all of ours were the same. Please mend the hearts we've hurt with our words, including my own. When unkindness or criticism tries to leave our mouths, let it be caught in our throats. Then fill us with words that give life, and a desire to share those words with others. Amen.

Why isn't it easy to put others needs before our own?

Courage

Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

God who supplies all courage, I feel like we keep coming back to this well again and again. How grateful are we for Your endless supply of courage. How we'd be lost without it. We are so encouraged by Your presence. With You, we can face anything. We have nothing to fear. Amen.

CONFIDENCE

Help us to remember, God, that we can approach Your throne with confidence. You love it when we spend time with You. Knowing this gives us the strength to hold our head high and face each day without wavering. You are our confidence.

How do you find your confidence?

CONTENTMENT

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him, who gives me strength.
PHILIPPIANS 4:12-13 NIV

God of contentment, You bring us such peace. We forget this sometimes when our situation becomes difficult; we take our eyes off You, where perfect peace resides, and we focus all our attention on the problem. This brings the opposite of contentment and is not at all how we wish to live. Allow us to rest in the knowledge that You are good and all will be well. Amen.

How can you choose to be content with your life as it is right now?

COMPASSION

When I am with those who are weak, I share their weaknesse, for I want to bring the weak to Christ.
Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.
2CORINTHIANS 1:3NIV

Merciful Lord, You see our desperation and You cannot stay where You are. You long to intercede. A soon as we ask, You respond. Compassion moves You. Move us, Lord! Show us something that breaks Your heart, and let it break ours. Let the pain we feel for others pluck us from our comfort and place us right in the middle of their suffering, ready, willing, and even desperate to act. Amen.

How can you be a more compassionate person?

HE will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control.

CHANGE

Unchanging Lord, how intriguing that You created a world where nothing stays the same.
Only You are perfect, so everything else must change. The color of the sky changes minute to minute, and even the hardest of rocks wear down with time.
Perhaps most striking of all, we are never the same person upon rising as we were the day before. Let all our growth and change be toward becoming more like You, and help us not to be rattled by things that change around us, knowing that You remain the same. Amen.

How do you handle change?

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.
PHILIPPIANS 2:4 NCV

God, tgat You would choose to share our lives, all the highs and lows, is such a miracle to us. To know You hurt when we are hurting, and You laugh when we're laughing, just does us in.
How can we matter so much to You? Open our hearts to the blessing of empathy so we can laugh and cry with others in their joy and pain. Amen.

How can you care for someone else today?

BOLDNESS

Sinners run away even when no one is chasing them. But those who do what is right are as bold as lions.

Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There, we will receive His mercy, and we will find
grace to help us when we need it, most.

Creator God, what is beyond Your capability? What task are we unqualified for? When we feel overwhelmed and incapable, help us remember we don't need to panic. We are in this together, and your awesomeness more than makes up for our shortcomings. When we lack confidence, let us find it in You. Infuse us with Your ability to be bold. If this work we do is for You, we cannot fail. Amen.

Why is it sometimes hard to be bold?

God, how much fun you must have, dreaming up blessings to rain down on your children. Your affection for us is not subject to our behavior toward you. You continue to fix your thoughts on us even when we selfishly ignore your blessings. Help us to see all that you have blessed us with today.

GOD, You make beautiful things! Thank You for a lovely world. We know that to those who love us, we add to the world's beauty. This humbles us. In the mirror, we see things we would like to change. Behind us, hands resting proudly on our shoulders, Your eyes see Your beautiful beloved daughters. To You, we are more beautiful than the sunset. We are as lovely as a rose.

How does it make us feel to think God sees us as beautiful?

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

LORD, we get anxious about the future. We try to imagine it, and it seems so vague and uncertain; all blurry around the edges. Forgive our anxiety. We don't want to dishonor You, and we do want to trust You with our life. We give You our worries and cares and leave them with You, knowing that it does no good for us to control them ourselves.

What steps can we take to be less anxious and more trusting?

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

"Don't sin by letting anger control you."
Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry.
EPHESIANS 4:26 NLT

LORD, Your Word tells us You are slow to anger. We can not always say the same of ourselves. We confess there are plenty of days where we move the wrong way--a harsh word, a hasty action, and sometimes we hold onto our anger for the rest of the day. We don't want to be like this. When we feel anger rising. Lord, let Your love and forgiveness rise faster.

What does it mean to be quick to listen and slow to speak?

"The LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

"If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Romans 8:31 ESV

Like the perfect Father you are, you accept us as we are. You have decided that we are worthy through Your Son.
All are worthy who choose to believe. All are welcome. As this acceptance is in Your heart, let it be in ours.

Does God's acceptance of us help us to be more accepting of others?

Acceptance

He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ--with all boldness and without hindrance!

Wait for the Lord

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14

If God answered our prayers the very moment we first prayed, we wouldn't grow a single millimeter. No, it's in the waiting that keeps us dependent on Him, as we experience His total trustworthiness. Praise God for His mercy in not acting too soon!

Prayer:
Lord, as we plan to wait on You, we ask that You accomplish exactly what You want for us, in the process of Your bringing the things we need and You want us to have. Amen.

GOD Will Provide

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
MATTHEW 6:25-27

Lord, we thank You for providing our needs. We give You our worries and fears--those nagging thoughts about lacking money for food, clothes, and the basics of life. You feed the sparrows in the field, Lord--You'll certainly help us and our family's. Your resources are limitless--You have
an abundance of blessings. We praise You for Your goodness, Lord, and the faithfulness of Your provision for us. Amen.
