An active weather pattern is expected over the next several days. A series of winter storm systems will move across our area with the first system coming in on Thursday morning. This first system will bring snow showers the mountains and rain showers to the lowlands. Expect a total of 2 to 5 inches of snow in the mountains and less than 0.25 inches of rain the lowlands. The initial precipitation from the second system will be mainly snow showers in the mountains on Saturday. However, by Sunday, rain showers in the lowlands could convert to snow showers especially during the overnight hours as a strong cold front accompany that system. The winds will be breezy to windy throughout these events.
Colder weather continues tomorrow. It is important to stay warm by adding layers of clothing if possible when outdoors. We are expecting morning lows to dip into the 20s and low 30s in the Borderland.
Focus turns to the next storm system. This system is currently over the Gulf of Alaska and is slated to move across the Intermountain West and Southwest US during the middle of next week. With the system currently over the Gulf of Alaska, uncertainties certainly exist with regard to strength, timing, and exact track. However, confidence is slowly increasing in the potential that this system could bring the area some minor impacts. Mountain snow and lowland rain are at play. Exact amounts still need to be ironed out over the next few days. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
Good morning friends! Prepare to bundle up as colder air infiltrates the area.
