This week, Cecilie Kern (MGA Global Research and Policy Advocate), and Izzy Salter (MGA intern) have journeyed to the border of El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua for an immersion run by the Institute Justice Team of . The aim of the immersion is to learn about the root causes of migration, bear witness to the conditions faced by migrants on both sides of the border, and visit some of the faith-based organisations working tirelessly to accompany and support migrants along their journeys. So far, it has been an insightful and emotional trip, and we can’t wait to share our learnings with the Mercy World.

The Columban Mission Center joined the community of Parroquia Corpus Christi Anapra to remember Holy Friday and reflect on how Jesus Christ is crucified everyday as a result of the many injustices that are taking place in our communities.

Annunciation House was founded 46 years ago today. These words from our founder, Ruben Garcia, are as apt today as they were when he wrote them for our 20th anniversary:

“The hospitality that is Annunciation House is not simply a work in charity. It is a vigil in justice- an often lonely vigil in the face of anti-immigrant sentiment and unyielding belief that it’s OK to use the poor to ensure higher standards of living for others.”

“By virtue of their long and incredible journeys, physical presence, great human suffering and indomitable spirit, [immigrants] continue to demand that they be taken into account in the ongoing process which defines the relationship among peoples, decides the distribution of wealth and resources of the land and judges what will be the rights, privileges, and recourse of all.”

The Columban Mission Center is collecting jackets and blankets for migrants that recently arrived to our community. Many of them were released last night.

Please drop off Jackets (All sizes)and blankets today from 1 - 5pm or send us a direct message to coordinate the drop off. ‼️
