We're thrilled to announce that North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital has been selected as the winner of the 2024 Minnesota Hospital Association Coordination of Care Award!
This prestigious award acknowledges the exceptional work of our Manager of Care Management, Kayla Carlson, who led a successful initiative to reduce patient length of stay for complex cases. Kayla's dedication and collaborative spirit were instrumental in reducing patient length of stay by over 500 days per month for complex cases.
We're incredibly proud of Kayla and the entire Care Management team for their outstanding work.
Lydia and her friends were out enjoying an afternoon on the lake when the driver lost control of the boat and crashed into a rocky shoreline. Lydia was quickly airlifted to North – Robbinsdale Hospital with internal bleeding and a severe knee injury.
With the support of her mother, our specialized nurses, and our trauma rehab team, Lydia was able to regain use of her leg and return to college - and says you wouldn't ever know she had such a traumatic injury when you see her walking today.

North Memorial Health's nurse residency program supports recently hired new graduates transition to practice with evidence-based curriculum. During this 12-month program, cohorts of nurses do simulations, didactic escape rooms, develop a quality improvement project, and more with the support of nursing leaders, nurse educators, and various subject matter experts throughout the organization.
These leaders, who provide mentorship and expertise to facilitate the nursing cohort's development, share invaluable insight into the profession on topics ranging from health literacy and patient education to skin care and conflict management.

North Memorial Health volunteer, Dottie, has spent the last 11+ years serving patients at our Cancer Center in Robbinsdale. As a cancer survivor herself, Dottie can empathize with our patients while wanting to make them as comfortable as possible. One of the ways she does this is by handing out donated port pillows to chemo patients as shown in this picture. Additionally, she enjoys engaging in conversations with patients, bringing refreshments by, and handing out warm blankets!

When Andrea and her dad were in a life-changing car accident in 2019, North Memorial Health was on the scene to air lift her to North – Robbinsdale Hospital where she received critical level I trauma care. Thanks to an incredible team and the comfort of one nurse, Andrea has exceeded expectations with her determination and strength – going on to play competitive sports and attend college.

At 18 years old, Coby dove into the shallow end of a swimming pool and lost sensation from the neck down. After being rushed to North – Robbinsdale Hospital by ambulance, he needed emergency surgery and would spend the next two months doing inpatient therapy to rebuild his strength and mobility with the goal of walking out of the hospital.
Having been inspired by the care of our trauma team, Coby eventually returned to North Memorial Health a few years later as an RN and today works as a Nurse Manager in the same hospital where he was once a patient.
