Bud's Birds, Bees, and Trees
Produce and sell fresh eggs, honey and maple syrup.
Inspection and feeding! 25 # of sugar solution with added supplements.
More of the busy girls today.
Inspections and feeding went great on Thursday! Jack and I smelled a skunk close by the whole time. Well...Millie saw that skunk at 10:24pm and ran after it and got a face f10:24 pm This is how busy they are today with full feeders and pollen patties. Going to put the Boardman feeders out now and just give all the critters a check and tuck them in. 🐝
Guess what day it is?!
FARM FRESH EGGS make the best looking (and obviously tasting) Easter Eggs! Always fresh and always available in the cooler out front!!! 🐇🐣🐰
After sunset, I went to say goodnight to my chickens, checked their food and water, and closed the nesting box. However, they still laid eggs after dusk! These girls are incredibly productive!
Eggs for sale on the front porch! Fresh eggs daily in the red cooler. $5/dozen. Thank you!!!
Happy Chickens!!!
Everyone is enjoying the clean coop and fresh shavings!
Our White Jersey Giants are making some GIANT eggs! They don't even fit in large egg cartons!!!
Who needs farm-fresh eggs??? $5 a dozen. Did you know a store-bought egg could be 2 months old!!!

Who wants eggs? $4/dz 🥚🥚🥚🥚
So, with every round of chickens, they give a free one but it could be any kind of chicken and straight run (they are not sexed). Well here are 2 of 3 of them while I was away for the weekend. 😳🤦♂️🐓
Sweat Bee (ground bees that stung the hell out of me a few weeks ago) vs. a European Hornet
There was 2 of these bully's hanging out at the feeder today. (European Hornet)
Getting ready to move the last round of pullets to the super coop! The run still needs some finishing but at least they can stretch their legs until I get home from travel for work. 🤞
Goldie (not allowed in Gen. Pop. due to being the lowest in the pecking order) with her latest group of teenagers! They are so damn cute when they stack up to watch me working!
They are amazing creatures.
...and they're here!
Hen Gear with an Auto Roost is almost ready to be installed! Just need to finish programming the roosting bar controller. This "roll away" box prevents the chickens from pooping or eating the eggs. It also only opens in the morning so no one decides to nap (or poo!) in their nesting box.
Second round of chicks moved to the teeny bopper coop! Another round coming this week. The Rhode Island Reds and our free chicken we appropriately named Chicken Pants are with the big girls!
Another Super Coop upgrade. 😎
One of the chicks has a nail bleeding so we had to temporarily put her in her own trauma brooder until she stopped bleeding so the other little dinosaurs wouldn't peck. Millie was obviously concerned and made us crazy all day trying to be by her.
Super Coop is making progress! Floor got the second part of the epoxy applied tonight courtesy of a friend. Looks awesome and will be way better than changing a vinyl floor every few years!
Introducing, 10 x 26 Super Coop! It has a covered run so the girls can still do chicken stuff during the winter months. Some positive news after dealing with uninformed people...and the $2000 bear damage...but mostly ignorant bear people!!! The DEC was great to work with during the issue. As always, thank you to our LEOs.
For those that have been playing along at home, the delivery the other day was ironically glass jars for honey, not my fence. Since the POTUS has been destroying the country and supply chain, you have to plan WAY ahead. Today this showed up. Now to try to get grounding rods into this concrete soil we currently have!
Yes, he was back last night but he came early while we were still working in the barn and was caught in the act and dropped this hive and was scared off per the DEC's instructions. He never came back last this morning. I will be out waiting for him again tonight.
Well, the electric fence is on the way even though there's nothing left to protect but at least it will be set up for new colonies.
The DEC called a few times today but the last time they gave me my options understanding it shows up around 2am.
