I have been in the mortgage business for just over 25 years and over that time I have met, spoken to, and worked alongside a lot of talented loan officers. With that being said I have a question to all of you hard working originators. If you could build a perfect platform, company or forever home in lending what would that look like?

Now I know the obvious answers are low rates, lots of products, stellar service, Leads, and great technology. But I feel there is something missing to that equation, what else would inspire you to be better? What else would drive your business to new heights? What else would make your day better? What are loan officers looking for?

Is it having a voice? Is it being part of something bigger? Is it knowing somebody has your back? Is it accountability and training? Is it something else? I truly want you to take a minute to picture what this is? Do you even really know? I know it is not a one size fits all answer, but there must be commonalities across the board.

Let’s face it we are in a challenging market and have been for a bit of time now. How would you envision a betterment for you? I am curious because I talk to a lot of people, and nobody seems to really know what they really want and seem content trying to figure it out day by day.

Is that really a plan?
