Local production of β€˜Cabaret’ praised [letter] 08/08/2024

Our sensational production of π˜Šπ˜ˆπ˜‰π˜ˆπ˜™π˜Œπ˜› was the topic of an incredible Letter to the Editor for LNP + LancasterOnline, courtesy of Ned Beck! Below is what Ned had to say:

"My wife and I attended Thursday’s performance of the Ephrata Performing Arts Center’s production of β€œCabaret.” It is without question one of the greatest musical productions of any play we have ever seen, either locally or on Broadway!

It had everything you could ever dream of in a musical production, and it could not have been more perfect. I was glad, after viewing the performance, that I was not left speechless. Instead, I was in awe, wanting to scream to the heavens about what we witnessed on stage.

Casting, above everything else, I believe, is the secret to any great production. The two main leads will leave you begging emotionally for the show to never end. Rachael Opdenaker, cast as Sally Bowles, has a musical voice of an angel and presents an amazing performance. She is so believable as Sally Bowles that your heart will ache with her struggles in living her life.

Tell Williams IV, as Emcee, gives one of the greatest performances I have ever witnessed on stage!

We have front-row season tickets and my wife graciously gave me the aisle seat in the center. During the first act, Emcee, while the production was taking place, came and sat beside me and asked if he could sit there and talk to me a bit as part of the presentation of the show. Wow! I told him that would be fine and he was giving us a magnificent performance for the ages. Opportunities for live theater this spectacular must be attended. Go see it!"

Thank you for the kind words, Ned!

There are 4 CHANCES LEFT to see π˜Šπ˜ˆπ˜‰π˜ˆπ˜™π˜Œπ˜› before it closes thus Saturday night, so don't miss your opportunity to experience it for yourself before it's gone! Get your tickets NOW at epactheatre.org, or by calling the box office at 717-733-7966 ext. 1!

Review: CABARET at EPAC 07/28/2024

Rich Mehrenberg of BroadwayWorld gives our production of π˜Šπ˜ˆπ˜‰π˜ˆπ˜™π˜Œπ˜› an absolutely WONDERFUL review! Here is just some of what he had to say:

"Directed by Ben Galosi, this production puts an original spin on the story.

Zach Haines is great as Cliff Bradshaw, the American who experiences the decadence and openness of pre-War Germany. Haines is effective at holding back, allowing his fellow actors to appear more intense, flamboyant, and active in their performances.

Tell Williams IV is dazzling as the emcee. He emphasizes the character’s humor, playfulness, and gregariousness, while downplaying the menace and threat. He makes the emcee a more likable character.

I am a big fan of Rachael Opdenaker’s portrayal of Sally Bowles. Opdenaker brings vitality and beauty to her role. All of her numbers are fantastic, but her cover of the title song is a true powerhouse performance that needs to be seen and heard.

Julia Smith and Marc Lubbers are perfect as the elder couple, Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz. The couple has solid chemistry, and provide a poignant glance at more conservative Germans of the time surviving far away from the razzle-dazzle of the Kit-Kat Club.

Costume designer, Lionella Darling has a field day with this show, especially with the sexy clothes (or lack thereof) of the multiple club dancers and patrons.

EPAC knows musical theater. Their production of Cabaret is a winner, buy a ticket while you can. "

Thank you for the kind words, Rich!

EPAC is proud to present π˜Šπ˜ˆπ˜‰π˜ˆπ˜™π˜Œπ˜›, playing July 25th through August 10th!

Starring Tell Williams IV, Rachael Opdenaker, and Zach Haines | Featuring Julia Smith, Marc Lubbers, Rachel Faust, and Rogan Motter

Step into the Kit Kat Klub and immerse yourself in its intoxicating atmosphere where eager showgirls, charismatic performers, and a captivating Emcee transport you to a world of decadence, indulgence, and unbridled passion. As the dark shadows of political unrest loom, we follow the intertwined lives of American writer Cliff Bradshaw, the enigmatic Sally Bowles, and a vibrant ensemble of characters.

With iconic music, featuring songs like β€œWilkommen” and β€œMaybe This Time,” set to a hauntingly poignant storyline, Cabaret explores the blurred lines between love, desire, and self-expression in a world on the brink.
