How Shohei Ohtani’s UCL Injury May Affect His Start With The Dodgers After Ohtani learned that he tore his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) on August 23, he subsequently underwent Tommy John-esque surgery around four weeks later.

Sounds simple and easy right? This can be more complicated that meets the eye. Sometimes we educate patients on use of items like tape, braces, and mobility aids (walkers, crutches, canes). As a clinic, we can observe that people delay their own care by taking too long to follow these recommendations. Therefore, when possible follow your therapist's recommendation, and make sure to ask questions if unclear.
