Nutrition Insight Project

Hey, Hello, I’m Hannah and sometimes I forget to tell you what I do 😳

I created the Nutrition Insight Project to address the gaps in our nutrition education and training.

It is a toolkit includes 8- high level modules with engaging videos and written reflections that you share and process with me (to your level of comfort). This project includes so much of the learning I wished was included in our education and that I’ve learned over my 17 years as a dietitian. The toolkit package also includes 1:1 time with me.

The cost is $297, though limited need-based scholarships are available if that applies to your situation.

It’s not the only way to connect with me. I also have a podcast! Coming up on 10 high-quality episodes.

I’ve created a masterclass for nutrition student groups that I’m now offering for FREE!

I have a Oregon-based private practice specializing in supporting those struggling with eating disorders and behavior change. I used various modalities in my nutrition therapy approach, always with a foundation in individualized and respectful care for all.

I’m taking a break to re-group. My work around this project is very much alive AND the human in me needs to reconnect to my center, my values, dreams for how I spend my time and life and my vision for the project. It is a practice of patience and non-attachment, in order to listen to my inner guide that says - “Take A Break” - so…. I’m listening. Podcast recordings are happening 😊 but social media on holiday. Email me [email protected] to connect off app. Otherwise ✌🏽❤️✨

This is happening! Coming to your ears January 2023 on your podcast player of choice 🙌🏼 The trailer is published and you can subscribe if you’d like to catch all the coming episodes.

The podcast will be about changing the nutrition culture and landscape, yes, and also about being the change now. How can we support each other and re-imagine our professional landscape for the future?

My dream is to build a community around the Nutrition Insight Project where we can be humans, nutrition students, and nutr professionals. A space where you don’t have to take my course to get support, but free and widely available space for growth, change, and connection.

If you would like to be a guest, shoot me a DM and let’s have a coffee chat. If you have a nutrition question or specific topic you’d like me to address on the pod, send me a DM. I’m very excited about doing this as I’ve been thinking about it a long time and am finally taking the leap.

Does your own food, exercise, and body stress you out? Yes… Keep reading 👇

Are you interested in working with eating disorder clients but don’t know where to start or are worried your past nutrition struggles will interfere?

Do you feel like your own relationship with food and body “should” feel easier because you took all the nutrition classes or are working as a dietitian yourself?

Do you dream of feeling more freedom around food yourself but feel scared to reach out?

I’m on a mission to support nutrition students and dietitians in exploring and strengthening our relationship with food/body to build a strong foundation ourselves and feel more aligned in the nutrition work we do with our clients.

There is a gap in our education because we know nutrition is more than book-learning and knowing what to do. It’s layered, personal, and complex. It’s not just about the “knowing” but more about the support in directing the inquiry inward - what is my dream for my own eating? How would I like to show up for myself around my own nutrition? Where are some lingering disordered thoughts showing up in my sessions with clients? How can I dream into the dietitian I want to be?

Are these things you’d like to explore with me?
If so, send me a DM and let’s chat. Do you already do this work and see value in the message ? Pls share with nutrition students and dietitians in your life to spread the message.

Where are you in your human experience? We fluctuate up and down so much daily, weekly, monthly, all the cycles.

I’ve been feeling this deeply with this process of getting the Nutrition Insight Project rolling. I’m working on finding the excitement and parts of this project that bring me joy, and run with those, that momentum, that sense of possibility.

New business and bigger institutional changes and I’m working on patience, perspective, and long view.

It can be easy for me to get bogged down in the low parts, the attachment to outcome, especially when something means so much to me. I have to remind myself yo keep finding the connection and joy and go there.

The more I can show up and be human, the more aligned and better I feel in this endeavor.

How are you working on being more gentle with yourself?

I often pass these roots on my trail and they always remind me of the importance of our roots.

If we’re not grounded ourselves, we may fall. And from the loss, comes beauty.

Disordered eating and thinking threaten our roots. The rigidity in our eating and lives makes it so hard to cope, and small setbacks feel overwhelming.

When we put in the work on our relationship with food, we can develop our strong nutrition clinician roots. When we let go of striving for perfection, we are better able to bend.

Look for ways to strengthen your roots.

What is The Nutrition Insight Project? 10/17/2022

Are eating disorders a problem among dietitians? YES! A study that surveyed 646 registered dietitians found 49.5% had responses indicative of orthorexia (obsession with healthy eating), 13% had responses indicative of current, active, untreated eating disorders. CURRENT. 8% reported current or past treatment for eating disorders. That's nearly 70% of dietitians!

We must have a strong relationship with food and our body before being able to help others. I've created a tool for nutrition programs and dietetic internships to fill this gap - not just an ethical way to screen your students for eating disorders but also give them real support. What is The Nutrition Insight Project? 10/06/2022

Did you know - in a study of 178 nutrition and dietetic students, 68% were at a high risk for orthorexia? The Nutrition Insight Project helps to address this problem by bringing in a neutral eating disorder dietitian to facilitate an evidence-based 6-week online program (2hrs/week) for your students. I have officially launched my nutrition course - it is designed to give nutrition students a space to explore and strengthen their own relationship with food and their bodies before becoming nutrition professionals themselves. It is a 6-week course delivered fully online by me. Feel free to share if you have management contacts at hospitals, universities, or other agencies that may be interested. Thank you!

Exciting news friends! I am creating an online eating disorder prevention course for nutrition students through my master's degree program. Eating disorders and disordered eating are prevalent in the nutrition and dietetic community and I feel called to help. This photo is a real behind-the-scenes peek at my process (yes, that is an ironing board that I'm using as my station). This may be my life's work calling....

Be tender with yourselves this holiday season folks!

Do you know anyone who would like to take a nutrition class with me online through Santa Rosa Junior College this fall 2021? I have about 25 more spots in one of my sections and would love to fill them! Food and Nutrition 10 section 3041 - 3 transferable units.

(If you have active ED or your recovery is shaky, I’d recommend not taking a nutrition class even with me. Some of the material can be triggering, even though I do my best to make it consistent with my food philosophy of all foods fit and all bodies are good bodies!)
