Looking for a way to achieve privacy in a bathroom without window treatments or frosted glass? Think green! We installed these window ledges adorned with a variety of plants in a bath at the David Adler showcase house in Chicago, and it did just the trick. The foliage blocked a clear view into the space while still allowing plenty of natural light to filter through.

Inspiration comes from many sources when designing custom interiors. In the case of this condominium residence, we were absolutely influenced by these spectacular views. We selected furnishings and décor that could hold their own against the stunning skyline backdrop while, at the same time, not taking away from the vista, too.
Considering building your dream vacation home? Let us help make it a reality! MWA co-founder Fred Wilson recently shared a post on our Show & Live Well blog with four of his suggested considerations when planning a custom vacation home:
Custom-Built Vacation Home Ideas | Residential Architect Award-Winning Residential Architect Fred Wilson shares four key things to keep in mind when planning a custom-built vacation home
From blank box to bespoke kitchen, this before-and-after penthouse project was a fun one! We had the opportunity to completely rehab a vintage unit to make it more open and livable, while still paying homage to the character of the building. You can see the full project -- including an incredible terrace with landscape design by Mariani Landscape as well as clever hidden storage in the kitchen -- here: https://www.morgantewilson.com/residential-architects-chicago/penthouse-chic
MWA co-founders Elissa Morgante and Fred Wilson, along with their kids, enjoyed an early summer holiday visiting Paris and London together. Highlights included a food tour of Montmartre, visiting museums and art galleries, and taking in city sights. Of course, no trip across the pond would be complete without visiting daughter Issy Wilson's (www.iwilson.art) art studio at the Royal College of Art.
Comfortable and inviting seating, convenient access to the barbeque, and just steps from the pool -- this MWA-designed outdoor space offers the trifecta of outdoor living.

Many mistakenly believe that interior designers create style for our clients, but truly talented interior designers help clients find their own unique style and then execute design based on that. In this Show & Live Well blog post, MWA co-founder Elissa Morgante offers tips on how to find your personal style when working with an interior designer.
How To Find Your Style By Working With A Professional Interior Designer Elissa Morgante, Partner at Morgante-Wilson Architects in Chicago, shares her insights on how to find your style by working with a professional interior designer.
Federal, Georgian, Tudor - oh my! Which style of home is your favorite? We love each of these homes for their distinct style and timeless appeal.
When designing a home to maximize daylight and views, we consider every angle - quite literally! Here are two examples where our team added angled windows to a home, bringing a modern take to the traditional bay window.
Designing a seamless addition to a home always presents certain challenges, but those challenges are even greater when it's a historic residence. Attention to every detail, from scale to trim accents, is essential to designing a cohesive and timeless look that blends with and complements that original home. Here is a "before & after" example of one addition we designed for a landmark home in Oak Park, Ill.
Last month, our Bob Zuber took an incredible trip to Bali and Thailand, and returned with lots of inspiration. Among the many sights and colors that moved him was the idea of utilizing water in design. In fact, Bob did his architectural design thesis on water and design while earning his master's degree in architecture. Water as a design feature has both practical and aesthetic applications, including cooling a space from evaporation and providing a connection to the Earth.
As architects, is always a consideration. One of our favorite, eco-friendly projects was this vacation home in Michigan's Harbor Country that we designed and built following standards. Utilizing passive energy and sustainable materials, this family-friendly retreat is eco-friendly, too. Click to take a tour:
