Little Red Riding Hood visited Sunday Morning Playgroup!
We read the book, worked on a collaborative project, and played out the story with simple props. The children could not have been sweeter.
The moral of the story: Listen to your parents and beware of strangers.

Morning activity set up while I get a little house work done. Halloween music by playing in the background!
Pro tip: Cut your sticker sheets apart! This helps your child work independently.
Take your kids to an apple orchard. One without corn pits, giant bounce houses, and inflated prices. Go to an orchard, meet the farmer, pick your own apples, sit under the tree and gaze up at the beautiful branches while you sample the fruit. Teach your children where their food comes from and show gratitude towards those who work with their hands in the dirt. Take a moment with your feet rooted to the ground and reach high to the sky and thank the sun and Mother Earth for the day.
Go outside.
Warm Fall Nature Walk
Today is a recovery day after sickness hit our house. No better way to kick the last bit of the bug than being in sunshine and nature.
These cardboard and rubber band nature keepers not only look beautiful but they kept us moving on the trail. Go outside!
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful Dads out there! Thank you for being our Sherpa, joke maker, tickle monster, and grill master. All the love is for your today. Xoxo

Snacky lunch is always a hit in our house! Best part: he helped make his plate and cleared it off the table when he finished! Teach these skills when they are young and your child will grow to be a more self-sufficient adolescent.
Teach self-care and teach it early.
Sunday Morning Playgroup at the Beach!
Did you ever make your own Barbie furniture as a kid? It was my favorite way to play with my dolls. Spent more time setting the scene than acting it out. Cardboard, fabric, a hot glue gun and some creativity is all you need! Best part is no plastic!

Sunday Morning Playgroup
We are excited about the start of the Olympics so we are reading “Tacky and the Winter Games” by Helen Lester Illustrations by Lynn Munsinger. We will also be making our own penguins to take home!
Ice Mandala
Create beauty during these cold days of winter. These circular sun catches will no doubt brighten your day.
You will need just a few ingredients:
Circular baking pan
Rope or twine
Water (boiled water will freeze clear)
petals, berries, leaves, etc.
Shine bright during these dark months. The light is coming.
Grimms 4 Elements Building Set and Puzzle
I am in love with this new set and can you believe I bought it used?!? So thankful for online resale groups. We have added some beautiful pieces to our toy collection.
The four elements of earth, fire, water and air are here represented by a cave, flames, a wave and a rainbow. So many new possibilities for our nature table.
Feed your young one’s imagination with open ended toys!

Unplug your children and feed their imaginations. Allow their creativity to grow through play without boundaries. Let them be bored. So bored that the only way out is through problem solving.
Sunday Morning Playgroup - Winter Bears
We worked together to build a cozy cave for the cubs to crawl in and stay warm.
King Winter’s reign continues at the nature table. Looks like the gnomes gathered for a playgroup of their own.
We read the beautifully written and illustrated book called Home by Brittany Teckentrup. A perfect lead in to our “bear in her cave” craft.
We are truthful and helpful
And loving in trust
For our heart’s inner sun
Glows brightly in us.
We will open our hearts
To the sunbeams so bright
And we’ll fill all the world
With our heart’s inner light.

A bit too cold outside?
Make some indoor snow!
Mix 1 part baking soda to 1 part shaving cream. Play around with the consistency until you have a mixture that holds together but doesn't stick to your hands.
When your kids lose interest, hand them an eye dropper of vinegar and they will be surprised with the chemical reaction.
Validate those feelings parents.
Say things like, “You’re stomping your feet, I can see you are angry.”
“I can see that you are feeling frustrated right now.”
These simple validations have great power when working to transition out of a emotional state.
Validate then hug! This is the start to teaching your child how to self regulate.
