Preparing for disaster response and recovery is critical, and we are proud to have supported Lee County Public Safety in this effort!

The hazards of greatest threat to Lee County are flooding, hurricanes, thunderstorms, and tornados. Today, leaders from area municipalities and agencies met at the EOC to explore how to best serve survivors after a disaster. Led by our Emergency Management team and supported by Hagerty Consulting, this session focused on the key steps, resources, and tools needed to recover from a major event.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of September 11th, Hagerty has partnered in a corporate giving campaign with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor America's fallen heroes and support their families.

Proud to partner with the City of Panama City - Government on this important project — a major milestone in the community’s continued recovery from .

Our team and Hagerty Consulting met virtually with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) this afternoon to discuss the City’s application for the Hometown Revitalization Program.

The City is seeking about $23 million in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding to repair the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center and historic St. Andrew School as well help about 50 business owners improve their commercial buildings.

Following today’s meeting, DEO will continue reviewing the City's application and consider the projects for the grant award.

The state of Florida received more than $735 million in CDBG-DR funding for long-term recovery efforts for Hurricane Michael-impacted communities. Earlier this month, Governor Ron DeSantis and DEO awarded the City nearly $19 million in CDBG-DR funding to replace key and vital infrastructure in Millville. These funds come from the $1.9 billion appropriation made by Congress.

Sad to learn of the passing of Bill Campbell, a 9th Ward resident of Evanston. He was one of the first Chicago media people I met many years ago. He was curious, serious, generous with his time, and loved Chicago and Evanston. My condolences to his wife, Angela, son, Will, his sisters and brother, and to all his friends. Bill lived a remarkable life.

On January 24, 2020, Hagerty wrote our first Situation Status Blog post titled, “Novel Coronavirus Spreads throughout Asia and is Confirmed in the US.” At the time, there were only two confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout the United States (US) and little was known about COVID-19s impact on the human body, its Basic Reproduction Rate, or the impact the impending pandemic would have on our society. One year later, the US has had 25.1 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the death toll across the country has reached 419,263.

Overnight, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed an eruption of the active shield volcano Kīlauea on Hawaii’s Big Island. About an hour after the initial eruption, the USGS Hawaii Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded a 4.4-magnitude earthquake on the volcano's south flank. According to the HVO, about 500 Hawaiian residents reported feeling the quake. As a result of the eruption, the Kīlauea volcano alert level has been upgraded to “WARNING” and its aviation color code to “RED.” Hawaiian officials are urging residents to stay indoors to avoid exposure to ash. Did you know that many departments have relied on the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention's Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) program to fund their emergency preparedness efforts since the program began in 2002?
