Having your faucets drip will be way less costly than an insurance claim due to a pipe break.

**SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT**
Extended arctic cold snap expected....

A strong arctic cold front will move into the region Saturday afternoon. If temperatures do not rise above freezing Saturday it is expected to mark the first of 6 or more days to 6 days where temperatures will not rise above freezing. Lows Saturday through Tuesday night are forecast to fall into or near the single digits. Below zero wind chills are likely most of Monday and Tuesday.

This extended cold snap will be dangerous to those without adequate shelter and will likely challenge plumbing and other cold-sensitive infrastructure. Such a long period below freezing only occurs about 3 to 4 times every 30 to 40 years in this region.

Take necessary action to protect yourself and winterize property.

Accumulating snow remains possible Monday but forecast amounts continue to trend lower.

Today is National Speed Awareness Day. Evansville Police Officers will be out conducting high visibility traffic details throughout the day. Crashes caused by speeding can be deadly but are preventable. We are hoping that by bringing awareness to the dangers of speeding, it will be a good reminder to slow down and be mindful of your driving habits.
