Today, we hope everyone gets the chance to unwind and enjoy all the things they've worked for!
We enjoyed working with Timothy in his short-term therapy program. Watching him work hard and regain his strength and independence was inspiring! Congrats, Timothy.
"This place has a lot of patience. People know what to do in different situations. You guys took care of me." –– Timothy Hicklin
Congratulations to Sheila for completing her short-term therapy program! We are proud of her and wish her the best.
"My stay at Parkview has been an enjoyable time. Everyone worked together to get me ready to go home. I am thrilled to have my independence back! Thank you all staff!" –– Sheila Dietz
We had a great time last week with our outdoor activities incorporating occupational, physical, and speech therapies. The residents loved enjoying the beautiful weather!
Happy National Senior Citizens Day!
Parkview is a Community Partner in Parkinson's Care and has developed many relationships with the local community resources that assist with Parkinson's support.
If you have been diagnosed with PD or have a loved one with PD, this symposium will provide great information and resources. Parkview will be attending for support as well.
Thanks for recovering with us, Patricia! We are proud of you for meeting your goals in short-term therapy.
"Ashley, the speech therapist, made sure I get plenty of food options. Amanda, Jessica, and Jo Anna from therapy made sure I can successfully return home. I would recommend Parkview." –– Patricia Schillumeit
Parkview has some incredible associates who work together to make every resident feel special.
Ralph W. told therapy he wanted some popcorn after his therapy session. They were so excited to enjoy this moment with him! 🍿
Every month, our residents celebrate their monthly birthdays with a party! Birthdays are nature's way of telling us to eat more cake!
We celebrated the 4th of July with a fun party! 🇺🇲
“One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, one nation evermore!” —Oliver Wendell Holmes
A painted rock, sometimes called a kindness stone, is a rock that someone has decorated with an inspirational message. Our residents were able to work on their own rock projects during activities!
Parkview is blessed with an Activity Director who started a few months ago and is bringing loads of new activities to our facility, including shaving cream art!
Residents spray some shaving cream onto the canvas, drop a few drops of food coloring into the shaving cream, and then spread it around with gloved hands. The residents really enjoy getting creative!
A few more pictures of our June birthday celebrations with our residents!
Parkview had a Fourth of July celebration filled with food, music, and a lot of laughter!
Here's to independence!
We had so much fun making icing and adding fruits to fruit pizzas in group therapy today!
We kept it with the Fourth Of July theme and really enjoyed eating our creations!
Ashley K., Speech Therapist, is Parkview's Whatever It Takes winner for the month of May.
A fellow associate nominated her by saying "I had called Ashley for some advice on a patient having difficulty swallowing and was possibly aspirating. Ashley was off for work that day and still took my phone call and answered my questions. When I returned to the therapy office, she had come in to check on the patient. Thank you, Ashley, for caring so much about the patients and coming in on your day off of work! You are amazing!"
We are truly blessed with incredibly caring associates like Ashley!
Last weekend, we gave back to the community by hosting a Community Cookout! Staff, residents, families and community members were able to eat a free lunch and enjoy inflatables, music, outdoor games and more! Keep an eye out for our next Parkview Gives Back event!
Our residents enjoyed tie-dyeing some tote bags to use while here at Parkview!
Did you know that Bandhani is the oldest known form of tie-dye, dating back to 4,000 B.C. in Indus Valley Civilization, which was based in the northern region of modern day India?
Our residents had a lot of fun creating different patterns and personalizing each of their own tote bags. Lookin’ good!
We recently had a fun ice cream social group focusing on fine motor skills, upper body movement, swallowing, reaching tasks, trunk strengthening, and talking with friends! 🍨
Our activities department has held "Mice Races" a few times and our residents thoroughly enjoy it! Resident Andy says he is, "a pro" and assists the newbies with tidbits on how to win.
We celebrated CNA Week with loads of yard games!
Bocce ball, frisbees, washer, Jenga, and more! Our staff even got to take a swing at a piñata! We are so proud of our hardworking, caring CNAs!
Gentiva Hospice celebrated our CNAs during CNA Week with Sno-cones! The staff and residents loved them. Tiger's Blood Sno-cones were the best!
Meet some of our favorite animal friends!
We have a bird, Charlie. who has been with us for about 10 years! The dogs, Benny and Miss Kitty are a couple of pets our management brings daily. In the courtyard, you often can see turtles some the size of a bowl and others as small as the one in the picture. However, recently, we were blessed with a small fawn that probably lives in the woods behind the facility!
Our caring staff ensured it returned to the woods instead of the busy road out front. Our residents and staff love seeing all the animals and enjoy spending time with them!
Parkview Care Center has been Rachelle S's place to work since she was 15 years old. She has worked in a variety of departments for the last 29 years within the facility and currently is our front desk receptionist. We could not be more proud of her for a variety of reasons BUT just last week she passed her GED!! Please help us celebrate one of our most beloved associates on this huge accomplishment!
CNA week festivities continued with wearing your favorite superhero shirt and enjoying Hacienda Chips and Salsa from Heart to Heart Hospice!
Tuesday was twin day at Parkview Care to celebrate CNA week! Look at our adorable associates who dressed up for this day!
