Joining us in Flashback are 3 wonderful Early College High School students (Rodriguez high). So happy they are joining us.
Let's give it up for: ECHS Dancers
Shelby Banovitz has been a dancer for as long as she can remember. Dancing is a way to express herself as well as entertaining people.
Shelby is graduating high school in June with almost all her general education done for college, thanks to the early college program.
Shelby got the opportunity to choreograph a dance piece with her 2 classmates for the Flashback concert.
In fall she will be attending Sacramento State for a degree in forensic chemistry and Sacramento City College for wrestling.
Fun fact: Shelby has danced in tap, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, hip hop, ballet, and pointé! She's always looking to learn more styles and expand her knowledge of dance from all around the world.
Katie Malianos is currently going to Early College High School. She joined the dance production class because she wanted to learn different types of dancing and experience something new. Back when she was little, she used to do ballet and all sorts of hobbies but hasn’t since freshman year.
After high school she plans on going for photography and cosmetology while always having dancing as something to do for fun.
She’s still looking out for colleges. Along the way, she hopes to use these small yet big experiences to build herself as a person.
Fun fact! I have a cat named Ash and he is one of the most important members of my family. He’s like my son.
Natalie Villalobos is a current student at Early College High School. She loves to dance a variety of Latin dances and decided to direct that passion into a dance class this semester.
She is currently enrolled in a jazz class with Ms. Ginger and loves it. While she may not be majoring in Dance, she finds it’s a great way to relieve stress and have fun during the week!
Fun fact: She took tap for three years when she was little.

Here we go with more energizing photo's. Let's give it up for our charmastic personality, wonderful performer and dynamic dancer - Nick Rodriguez.
Nick started Solano college as of this year and is majoring in business and he plans to one day become a business owning entrepreneur living a life with no regrets.
This is his first year taking a dance class and first-time dancing live ever! Unless you count playing, “just dance,” when he was 8.
SCC dance production class has taught him all he knows. He states, “if you’ve never danced before, please try it out because dancing with others feels so amazing when you see the end result.”
He wants to being able to keep his balance and is now doing things he has never thought he would be able to do!
Dancing is the funniest way to exercise by far, especially when it’s with the people you love like SCC Dance.
This will be his 1st time dancing live onstage, and he is inspired and hopes everyone he knows comes to the performance as well as new folks. He states if he happens to fall…It never happened. But truly it is a great honor to be a part of SCC Dance and he is so glad to be able to perform.

Mei’Lani P. Yuponce (she, her).
Mei started at Solano in 2021 as a high school student. She is now studying as a computer science major.
This is her first year of dancing with instruction with Ms. Ginger and has never danced or performed live onstage.
Her favorite thing about learning how to dance is the confidence and sense of self it gives. She is excited to perform and dance live because it’s a completely new experience for her.
She has performed playing tenor Sax for around 7 years participating in Jazz, concert, and wind ensemble bands as well as marching for competitions and doing field shows for football games.
Dancing will be a more personal performance since this time around our bodies are the instruments.
Outside of Tenor Sax she has picked up a variety of instruments over the years including bass, electric guitar, Tenor Sax, and trombone with plans to master and learn more.
A fun fact about her is that she is originally from Sacramento and moved around a lot as a kid.

Jelylisa started Solano in fall 2023 and wants to get her associates in the nursing program.
She has danced for 8 years and competed for 7. She has done ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, swing, and acro, throughout the years.
Jeylisa attended the CDEA State Dance Conference at Cal State East Bay in February with SCC Dance.
She states that she is, “lucky to have been given the opportunity to try so many different types of dances, and she can say she has yet to come across one she dislikes.” She enjoys dancing because it makes her happy, that gives her a sense of empowerment and she feels best when she is dancing.
She loves to perform, and she joined this class so she could dance live on stage again. She loves the adrenaline of getting on stage and performing in front of people, it makes her feel alive.
A fun fact about her is that she doesn't don’t just like to dance to music, she also loves to sing and one day hopes to form a band with my friends.

Moving on to our very flexible, limber, and energetic dancer Esther Schroeder-Levin (she/her).
She only started doing SCC classes this year, and she is only seventeen, and is still doing them through high school.
Esther is still deciding on her major but hopes to major in theater.
Esther is new to dancing. She has had no experience prior to this class, and she is so glad that she got to take Swing dance and dance production this semester.
She loves movement and has done a bit of martial arts and some very minimal gymnastics so dancing feels like another form of that. She loves performing for people and the adrenaline rush that comes with being on a stage and seeing the audience spread out in the theatre watching is exciting!
A couple fun facts about her is that she works daily on her family farm. When she is not doing theater related things, or dancing. She also has a lot of experience with wilderness/outdoors and has many skills in these areas - she states, "if you need someone to light a fire from scratch for you in the wilderness, she is your girl!"

Next dancer up is our disciplined, easy-going, sweet, and fun personality Evelyn Abarca Avalos. (She/her/hers)
Evelyn started attending Solano Community College 2023 in the fall semester.
She is still deciding on what she would like to study. Currently she is thinking of becoming a dance teacher or an English interpreter.
She started dancing when she was 6 years old.
Evelyn really enjoys the positivity in the classroom. She looks forward to each class meeting of being with her classmates as they are super nice and the bonds that each student creates with others makes it more fun and different.
Evelyn is most excited to perform on a live stage because she has now been given an opportunity to finally show off her talent to her family members. She is most excited to perform live on stage as it will be her first-time preforming, she will cherish the memories that has been created in dance class forever.
One fun fact about her is that she loves learning new dances and loves spending time with friends and family members.

Let's give a shout out for fabulous Flashback, dancer Norma Carrera (she/her).
Norma started studying at Solano College in the fall semester of 2022 and is currently working towards an associate degree in dance.
Dance has been her favorite hobby since she was very young and when she found out SCC offered dance classes; she decided to take one her very first semester here at Solano and enjoyed it so much. She kept on registering for more classes including ballroom, hip-hop, jazz, swing, and dance production. She was introduced to dance by a dance video when she was very young. Her favorite style of dance is hip-hop.
Norma states she has had wonderful opportunities to perform at the college's theatre. She performed in last spring's dance concert "Unstoppable," as well as Santa Rosa Junior College's 2nd annual dance festival last December with Ms. Ginger and SCC Dance. She also got involved and had a great time at CDEA state dance conference that was held at Cal State University East Bay back in February.
Norma’s favorite thing about dance is that it is a type of art that allows her to be creative, it provides her comfort, makes her joyful, and she learns something new about it every day.
Norma is thrilled to be back this year to perform along with her classmates in Flashback, because she feels she and her classmates are putting in their best effort and good attitude to put on a great show. She knows it will become a lifetime memory that she can look back on as she keeps on growing as a human and a dancer.
A fact fun about Norma is that she takes dance classes with her mother and they both performed together at SRJC 2nd annual dance festival this past December.

Eliana has danced for 16 years in competitive ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary, Broadway, and hip hop. What she loves about dance is the expression of movement and the freedom to move however she would like. Especially with contemporary, she states you can twist your body in the weirdest ways, and it will be acceptable.
A little fact about Eliana is that she also is a classically trained pianist and have been playing for 16 years as well.
