September is Su***de Prevention Month a time to help raise awareness to this health crisis.
Suicidal thoughts, much like mental health conditions, can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. According to the World Health Organization, more than 720 000 people die due to su***de every year and su***de is the third leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds.
But, help is available. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. You are not alone.

Testimonies from those we serve are powerful, they can provide hope to others also receiving services. Dreamcatchers is pleased to share how our services are helping others and changing lives.
"The staff has been amazing. They have given me hope when I thought it was over for me, with the hands-on training and ongoing support that you don't get from just anywhere. I've been without work for more than ten years, so for me to start over again was very stressful. They assured me that everything would be ok and that they would be there every step of the way to help me, and they have done just that. Thanks again Dreamcatchers for helping me restart my life." - Eric

Today is the 34th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Although today is a day to celebrate this monumental legislation, we must also remember that there is still much more work to be done for the equality and inclusion of people with disabilities. Enacted in 1990, the ADA stands as a landmark civil rights law designed to ensure that individuals with disabilities, including those with mental health and substance use challenges, are afforded the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. The ADA has profoundly impacted both the recognition of these challenges as legitimate disabilities and the provision of services for our community.
The ADA provides a legal framework that mandates equal treatment and prohibits discrimination in almost all the important aspects of life, including employment, education, transportation, housing, access to public spaces, and telecommunications. Discrimination and stigma still affects people with all kinds of disabilities, preventing us from living full lives in our communities of choice.
Help us spread the word that employment is a right for all!
July is Disability Pride Month and National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month!
Disability Pride Month is celebrated every July and is an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. July marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), landmark legislation in 1990 that broke down barriers to inclusion in society.
Today, 1 in 4 adults in the U.S. are living with a disability. People with disabilities deserve and want to live full, self-determined lives, just like everyone else. Help us spread the word about inclusion in the workplace for people with disabilities.
July is also National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. It is a time to bring awareness to the unique challenges that racial and ethnic minorities in the United States face when it comes to mental health challenges. According to the FDA, in 2020, fewer than one in every two African American adults sought care for mental health and in 2018, Asian Americans were 60 percent less likely to receive mental health treatment than non-Hispanic Whites. Stigma along with a lack of health insurance and less access to treatment continue to be barriers. But you can make a difference! Be an advocate for better mental health resources for minority groups in your community.
