That's what one 11-year-old recently said of Douglas Point Special Recreation Management Area in Maryland.

And he's not wrong! Douglas Point is a great place to find fossilized shark teeth at low tide. It's also got hiking trails, historical sites, and beautiful views of the Potomac.

But yeah, if you're an 11-year-old or a shark enthusiast? It's mostly about the teeth 🦈

BLM seeks public input on four draft environmental assessments evaluating potential impacts from the proposed plugging of 30 orphaned oil and gas wells on public lands in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Comments will be accepted until August 16, 2024.

Working collaboratively with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes and Ohio River Division and U.S. Forest Service, BLM proposes plugging the wells and restoring surrounding lands at Allegheny National Forest (Pennsylvania), Beech Fork Lake (West Virginia), Shenango River Lake (Pennsylvania), and Stonewall Jackson Lake (West Virginia).

Thank you Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter for being excellent hosts this week, and to all the adopters who came out to give Wild Horses and B***os a great new home!

Overall, we placed 92 animals this weekend in Georgia. Adopters plans for their new animals included trail horses, competition horses, therapy animals, and more!

The five horses that went adopted will be offered at an event in the near future.

The Wild Horses and B***os have arrived at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry!

We have an excellent variety of horses and b***os including horses from California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming and Utah. The b***os are from California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Total animals offered: 97 (90 horses, 7 b***os)

Total online corral pick-ups: 41 (40 horses, 1 b***o)

Animals available for adoption/sale: 56 (50 horses, 6 b***os)

We have 26 yearlings available for adoption (21 geldings, 5 mares)

The adoption begins tomorrow, July 11 at 8 a.m. and runs through July 13 at 12 p.m.

🌲There's an amazing variety of trees at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area in Lorton, Va. And now you'll be able to tell what they are with new colorful tree identification signs created by local students!

Our intern Brenden came up with the idea of an art contest for the tree ID signs, and the students of Gunston Elementary School of Fairfax County Public Schools answered the call!

We selected 11 winners for the contest, and our Meadowood staff announced the winners at the school! they also awarded Junior Ranger badges and certificates to every participant. 🏅

And considering we have 10 more tree ID signs that could use some colorful art, we are already planning to hold another contest next year!

Our Perry, Georgia wild horse and b***o event begins in 24 hours at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter!

We expect over 50 animals to be present at the event, with many available for adoption!

Save the date! The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area and the Village of Tequesta will host a ribbon cutting for the Sand Pine Spur Trail on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:30 pm.✂️

The trail will connect a sidewalk on US-1 to the ONA's Lupine Loop Trail.

Along with the ceremony, a guided tour of the trail will be offered.
