Youth from NDSU - Cass County 4H participated in the Consumer Decision Making Contest held at the North Dakota State Fair on Tuesday, July 23. The Senior team took 1st place and the Junior team took 2nd.
The Senior team will now advance to the Nationals, which will be held in San Antonio, TX, in January 2025.

Our online Parent Cafés are a great way to connect with and listen to other parents and caregivers. Participants often feel inspired, supported, and energized by the experience.
As an added benefit, Cafés are eligible for parent education credit hours. Participants will receive certificates of participation after each event.

We are excited to be able to send as many teams as we can to the state event, which is held on July 23, 2024, at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot, ND.
Here are the Cass County Teams. Teams will be arranged as needed.
All 4-H members exhibiting an animal can sign up for showmanship and herdsmanship categories at the fair. Showmanship is how well the individual exhibits their animal, and herdsmanship is a week-long competition to see who keeps their areas best maintained and works well with other participants.

Junior Division (8-12 years)
- All photos can be formatted as 8x12 in. or as 5x7 in.
- Mount on black or white mounting board.
- No frames or hangers.
- Must be displayed in a plastic sleeve or zip top bag.
- Must have a photo tag attached to the back.
Senior Division (13-18 years)
- All photos can be formatted as 8x12 in. or as 5x7 in.
- Matting is encouraged in any color, to add a degree of difficulty in selecting to enhance the photo.
- No frames or hangers.
- Must be displayed in a plastic sleeve or zip top bag.
- Must have a photo tag attached to the back.

All members with a livestock exhibit must complete one livestock record book. These will be judged on Sunday, June 30th from 2-4pm at the livestock barn. Youth will be asked questions about their animal and the progress it has made this year.

Did you know that you can show your pets at the fair?
Members who have a small pet that they are training can bring it to the fair on June 28th for judging during the small animal show. A Judge will ask the member questions about their pet such as how old it is, what they do to train it, and how they take care of it.

🥧Rhubarb Requested for Pies
Each summer, Cass County 4-H'ers collect fresh rhubarb to make pies to be sold by the slice at the Red River Valley Fair. If you or anyone you know has spare rhubarb, we would appreciate the donation.
Rhubarb can be brought into the Extension office located at 1010 2nd Ave. S., Fargo during weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. It does not have to be cleaned or cut. Just bring in the whole stock (minus the leaves) and we will prepare it for the delicious pies!
We are currently taking applications for the Agriculture & Natural Resource Agent position for Cass County Extension. This is an excellent opportunity to work as a full-time extension agent doing work with the agriculture and natural resources program.

NDSU Extension - Cass County in partnership with NDSU School of Nursing is offering a Stop the Bleed training in Embden on May 13.
The training will occur in the Embden Community Center from 6:30 pm to 8 pm CST.
Training sessions are limited to 10 to 12 participants per location and are intended for ages 13 and older.

Stop the Bleed NDSU Extension and the NDSU School of Nursing are partnering to offer Stop the Bleed training for rural residents wanting to learn how to reduce deaths caused by unintentional injury.
