Blackburn Family Association

The Blackburn Family Association is dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of the family. The Blackburn Family Association, Inc.

is the authoritative source on Blackburn genealogy and has extensive information on descendants of John Blackburn born about 1675 and on allied lines. While we are able to clearly trace our family history back to John Blackburn in Ireland, don't assume that our family originated in Ireland.

The Association plans reunions every 3 to 4 years and the location and dates for our next reunion have been set. We will be in Reno, Nevada October 14 - 18, 2026, and headquarters will be the Circus Circus Hotel. Time to meet cousins from all over and re-connect with some you've met before. Please visit our website, www.blackburn-tree.org and click on the reunion tab for details. You're welcome to participate in any or all of the activities and more details will be available as time gets closer. See you in Reno!

It's not too late to renew your Blackburn Family Association membership for 2024. The March issue is really interesting and will be sent upon your renewal. Membership remains at just $15 for this year and there's an online option to renew at https://www.blackburn-tree.org/membership/.
The Association is offering a special of just $10 for 2024 for first-time members. We are sure you have thought about joining in the past, so now might be the time. (Just use "other contribution" line online if you are a first-time member signing up at the lower rate.)

Cousins - it's that time of year again! Time to renew your membership for 2024. Membership is still $15.00 per year, with patron membership at $50.00 per year. We'd rather you'd mail your check or money order (saving on those fees), however you can visit our website for a link to pay online.

If you were at the reunion and visited the London Grove Meetinghouse, we have unfortunate news to pass along. The giant oak tree on the grounds was recently felled by a storm. So sad to see this. For some history on the tree, visit http://www.ents-bbs.org/viewtopic.php?t=8184

The installation of the historical marker at Samuel and Elizabeth (Blackburn) Morton's original homestead in West Grove, Pennsylvania is complete. What a beautiful example of some of the work our Association does!

06/21/2023

If you received your June issue of our Blackburn Beginnings newsletter, we do not have a picture so far of the historical marker placed in West Grove, PA. There are some finishing touches yet to be done on the installation, and then we promise to post a picture as soon as possible!

A reunion update: The bus tours scheduled for Friday of the reunion weekend are now sold out. Attendees can put their name on the waiting list with a paid reservation in case seats become available. Refunds will be issued if spots don't open up.

04/05/2023

A couple of reunion updates: The deadline for ordering reunion t-shirts is June 30th. Please try to have your full reservation in by that time.
If you want to do the Friday bus tour, there are only a couple of seats left on the morning bus tour and a dozen left for the afternoon tour.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. This is St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armaugh, Northern Ireland (taken on our trip in 2010).

A couple of reunion updates:
The Friday bus trips are now about 60% full, so if you're interested, please send your reservations in. We will keep a waiting list in case of cancellations, but the earlier you send in, the better.
If you're waiting to mail in your event reservations, you may want to go ahead and make your hotel reservation soon before our block of rooms at the Doubletree fill up. Of course, you can stay at the hotel of your choice, but the association has special pricing for the week of the reunion.

The annual mailing has gone out and it is already hitting mailboxes everywhere. Over the past few days the website has had almost as many hits as we had for all of 2022 combined. The mailing piece includes a one-page reservation form of the various reunion events for the end of July, but you are also welcome to just print the form from the website under the Reunion dropbox.

01/08/2023

Cousins - the website is now fully functional and has also been updated with complete information for this summer's reunion in Wilmington, Delaware. The order form for reunion events will be posted in a couple of weeks, but hotel reservations can now be made. The annual mailing will also be sent out later this month and goes to all known Blackburn descendants.
In the meantime, it's time to renew your membership for 2023 - instructions are on the website. Membership includes our quarterly newsletter and all information on upcoming events is published there first.

12/23/2022

We wanted to let you know that the December issue of the Blackburn Beginnings newsletter was mailed earlier this month and is making its way through the postal system. Hopefully, it will arrive in time so as you all get together for the holidays you can discuss plans to attend the reunion in July.

12/19/2022

The database on our website is once again operational. Thank you for your patience while we work on our website.

12/06/2022

Our website is back in full operation! The Home page still has some touch-ups to complete, but the functionality is there. The database and various information drop boxes will be updated in mid-January, as will final details for the reunion. The basic reunion information is already online, so please consider making your room reservations now while group rates are readily available.

10/28/2022

You may have some issues reaching our website this weekend as we continue to update. Things should be back up and running smoothly soon.
