Due to saftey reasons and the grass areas outside the grandstand not being a parking lot please park in the south parking lot.

The Dakota County Board of Commissioners hit the road this week to recognize local farm families, 4-H kids and the county’s 175th anniversary at the Dakota County Fair.

Fahey Farms of Rosemount was named the Dakota County Farm Bureau 2024 Sesquicentennial Farm. Tom Fahey and his family (top) grow corn, soybeans and other crops on a farm started in 1874.

The Reinardy Family Farm was recognized as the Dakota County Farm Bureau 2024 Century Farm. Jody and John Reinardy, with family (lower right), operate their corn and soybean farm in Hampton Township. The farm dates back to 1924.

The Schuhwerck Family (lower left) of Farmington were named the University of Minnesota Extension Services 2024 Farm Family of the Year.

As Chair of the County Board, I turned the gavel over Dakota County Commissioner Mike Slavik to run this meeting at the Fair. Mike represents much of rural Dakota County, including the Fairgrounds. Mike noted that the Dakota County Board is one of only three in Minnesota that meet at their county fair. It is an opportunity to honor the county’s agricultural roots, he said.

“Being the third-largest county (in Minnesota) with 450,000 residents, we still as a board and as a county value agriculture,” Mike emphasized, adding that it’s one of our county’s largest industries.

In addition to recognizing local farmers, the board invited local 4-H youths to show their projects and animals. Dakota County has the largest 4-H program among Minnesota's 87 counties.

This year marks Dakota County’s 175th anniversary. The board acknowledged the milestone with a proclamation highlighting county history and county government’s role in providing services to residents. The Dakota County Government Building at the fairgrounds includes an exhibit and trivia about the 175th anniversary.

The Dakota County Fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 11.

It’s Day 5!!!

We hope to make your visit to the Dakota County Fair as great as possible! That's why the Dakota County Fair has 5 parking lots available for fairgoers.
-Handicap parking can be located in lot between the 3rd and 4th street entrances highlighted in blue on the map below.
-Bikes and motorcycles have a special lot on 2nd street near the main entrance highlighted in yellow on the map.
-All general parking can use all other parking lots.
-There are also courtesy carts available from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

ASH STREET WILL BE BUSY AND BACKED UP ON DERBY NIGHTS. PLEASE UTILIZE THE ENTRANCE OFF OF HIGHWAY 3 TO ACCESS THE SOUTH PARKING LOT.
