Farmington SEAC

Dakota County has formed a county wide Disability Advisory Council and we are seeking members! Please share widely, particularly with families and people with disabilities and education representatives. This is such a great opportunity to get involved from the very beginning and help shape the work and focus of the group. Here’s some additional information:
The Disability Advisory Council makes a difference in how disability access and services are provided in Dakota County. The council actively works to develop a community that welcomes people with disabilities into all aspects of living, working and thriving.
The council will:
• Provide technical expertise as a subject matter expert on issues of disability
• Provide an independent sounding board for issues, ideas and policy matters impacting people with disabilities
• Seek advice from members and the public in the county decision-making process
• Reflect the diverse interests of county clientele and residents
Applications being accepted
Dakota County is seeking people with diverse perspectives, identities and experiences to join the council. The council is accepting applications through March 15, 2024. If selected applicants will be appointed to two-year terms.

Membership
The Disability Advisory Council will be made up of 25 members, including people representing the following categories:
• 8 members with disabilities and self-advocates
• 5 family members or guardians
• 4 representatives from organizations supporting people with disabilities
• 4 local business representatives
• 3 education representatives
• 1 housing representatives
