Young bees taking orientation flights today. These are some of the young bees that will overwinter in the hives. The winter bees have more fat stores and are programmed by nature to live through the winter months.
This yard is booming!
The weather is warm today and the bees are swarming, two catches within 10’ of each other. The work has begun.
Have some beeswax ready for a new home. 1 and 2lb blocks also have some 1oz bars.
Queens are really busy this year, this one has been so busy she hasn’t had time for a new manicure 😂

We start feeding the bees a pollen substitute before spring flow (when the plants start blooming) so the queen will lay more eggs and the work force is bigger before the plants start blooming. That way the hive is strong and ready to work when there is nectar to gather.
Just a reminder to our customers and anybody that buys raw honey. Real honey will crystallize over time depending on the storage temperature and also the sucrose and fructose content.
The shelf life of honey is many, many years so you don’t have to worry about it spoiling, if your honey does start to crystallize don’t throw it out just warm it in a pan of water on the stove. The sugar crystals will liquify and you are good to go.

It’s November the 5th and the girls are still busy, at this rate they will get to watch me cook the turkey 😁.
Not the most graceful creatures in slow motion but busy none the less 😁

The bees decided they wanted to cleanup some frames I left in the truck.
The boss lady let us buy a new extractor.
We hope to have raw honey available soon, waiting for labels and bottles, limited supply at this time.
