With the Walmart Shareholders event taking place next week, parking lots 55, 56B, 56D, 60, 62 and the Meadow Street Parking Garage will be closed to U of A students/employees and visitors. All other parking areas will remain open and available. Be mindful of any street closures or detours during the week to help accommodate the thousands of guests on campus.

Rock and roll over to Gearhart to see the new GeoLab! 🪨 This outdoor installation features 26 geological samples from across Arkansas organized by geologic time.

Shout out to Facilities Management, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and its Department of Geosciences, Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, and the Honors College for playing a huge role in making this happen!

We are excited to announce Deirdre Slavik as the new Director of Academic Technology Innovation and Outreach! She will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating discussions and creating pathways to drive innovative and effective technology utilization in the teaching and learning environment.

Deirdre has many years of experience in higher ed, where she has held various roles from faculty to academic dean. She came to the U of A last October as an organizational change manager for IT Services and has been eager to evoke change on campus, supporting shared value and belonging amongst IT professionals. Congratulations, Deirdre!

Help us congratulate Chris Bray on his new role as Director Academic Technology Services, where he will be responsible for leading the academic technology team and working with campus partners to empower teaching and learning across all U of A.

Chris has been a dedicated employee of the U of A since 1990 and has spent the majority of his time working in IT Services. Over the years, he has gained vast knowledge and experience in Blackboard Learn and was named one of the 17 international inaugural members of the Blackboard MVP program in 2013. Chris is excited to lead many of the changes coming to campus in the world of academic tech.

🚲 Not taking your bike with you after the semester’s over? The Office for Sustainability is hosting a bicycle donation drive from May 1-10 to take unwanted bikes and provide them to students in need of one.

If you live on campus, visit your residence’s hall front desk to get a hang tag and find the nearest drop off zone. If you live off campus, bring your bike to the Sustainability House to donate!
