-To help individuals, especially young adults, understand where they fit and how they can be productive members within their communities.

-To help individuals, especially young adults, manage their emotions and make choices that help them to avoid violent responses.

-To provide strategies to individuals, especially young adults, that help them gain victory over tough life situations by building emotional fortitude and stamina.

-To provide avenues for discovery of spiritual gifts, talents and abilities, and a safe environment within which to perfect those gifts, talents and abilities.

-To obtain/maintain a space where young adults can grow at their own pace, in a non-judgmental environment, that allows an examination of all that their lives have to offer

Agency Highlights:

2012 -Two members of young adult were invited and traveled to Howard University in Washington, D. C. to discuss their perceptions related to the activities surrounding the killing of Michael Brown. Members of the group also conducted interviews and helped with various community engagement activities.

2012 - 2013 – Rose of Sharon received consecutive grants from the United Methodist Church in recognition of its work with young adults.

2013 - One year after being established, the Executive Director of the Agency received the Harry Denman Evangelism Award for her work establishing and working with young adults.

2013 – Rose of Sharon young adult group published its first book, “Why Yes to God? Essays on Life and God by Young Adults.”

2014 – Rose of Sharon was invited to Millington, Tennessee to speak to and pray with about 25 youth who were participants of a church youth program.

2014 – Rose of Sharon young adult participants established both a young adult dance ministry and a male mime ministry.

2014 – Rose of Sharon’s young adult dance ministry traveled to Indianapolis to perform.

2014 – Rose of Sharon hosted its first Healed to Serve event for young adults. Members delivered their first public speaking assignments, managed the flow of activities and prayed for participants.

2015 – The Executive Director received one of three awards for Outstanding Research Project, Doctor of Ministry, from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio for her project related to young adult spiritual gift activation, mentoring and leadership.

2016 – In March of 2016, Rose of Sharon was honored by being chosen as Ministry of the Week by Piccione Bakery in the Delmar Loop.

2017 – In August 2016, Rose of Sharon hosted its first Making Life Work Conference, with approximately 50 individuals in attendance and 4 sponsors.
