Please join us in celebrating Dr. Glen Tate’s life on Sept 28, 1-4pm at Wilson County Cowboy Church. Please share to reach all who would like to join. We sincerely appreciate all of the love and condolences we have received.
Dr. Glen Allen Tate 1948-2024
Glen Tate was born February 25, 1948, to parents Harold and Maxine Tate in Corpus Christi, TX. His early years were spent on a small acreage outside of Victoria, TX. He then moved with his family to his deceased grandfather’s ranch outside of Devine, TX. There he developed his lifelong love of all animals great and small but especially horses and cattle. After graduating from Devine High School, he attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University), receiving a BS in Animal Science in 1970. He was accepted into Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and received a DVM in 1973.
After successfully owning and operating 2 veterinary practices in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada and Lytle, Texas, he then started his second career in the cattle business. He enjoyed much success in the development and breeding of heifers, having the highest selling Brangus heifers in many special replacement female sales.
A lifelong horseman, Glen especially treasured the friendship of many team ropers and was an avid fan of rodeo, having attended rodeos in Calgary, Pendleton, Prescott, Cheyenne and of course San Antonio, Houston, Fort Worth and San Angelo. Dr. Tate had many friends in the cattle business but especially enjoyed his involvement with the Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas.
Glen is survived by his wife of 55 years Diana and 3 children, Justin, Jennifer and Gaylyn. Glen especially loved family time with his 6 grandchildren - Lane, Bradley, Tyler, Taryn, Dalton and Josie, as well as 3 greatgrandchildren – Cohen, Stevie Lynn and Lottie Jane.
Dr. Tate was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Lynn Tate and is survived by his sister Sharon Kay Knapp.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wilson County Cowboy Church building fund or to the Southcentral Texas Independent Cattlemen’s Association scholarship fund. A celebration of life will be held at the Wilson County Cowboy Church, 100 Hickory Run, La Vernia, TX on Saturday, September 28, 1:00-4:00.
Let your kids know about this opportunity please.

Know what you’re buying. This picture has store beef(right), and farm beef(left). There is an obvious visible difference between the two but the differences don’t stop there!
1. You may notice the color difference in the picture. The store bought is pumped full of additives and preservatives, including propyl gallate, to protect against spoilage due to long term air exposure.
2. There isn’t a guarantee of where that beef came from, OR how many cows are in it.
Yes, it may have the USDA label on it but as long as that animal was packaged in the US, it can be called a Product of the USA.
And yes, the meat in the right package is not from one single cow, rather scraps from multiple cows. It may have come from Argentina, Canada, or Brazil.
3. The beef on the left is fresher, darker and is farm raised beef. It is filled with more nutrients & flavor. The ground is also from one cow and not just low quality scraps from multiple cows.

3. Buying your beef from a local Farmer/Rancher you are helping to buy a little girl dance shoes or a little boy baseball gear. Buying from the store just lines the pockets of the already wealthy meat packers. Let’s help each other. We help you eat healthy, you help us provide for our families.
Buy from a local ranch/farm!
And who can relate to this funny…..
