đMeet Elizabeth Stasny our Registered Dietitian here at Oak and Willow! đ
Elizabeth focuses on gentle nutrition plans and reorienting our thoughts and feelings about food. Food is meant to be used as fuel to keep us thriving and allowing our bodies to heal from the inside out. Compassionately and gently, Elizabeth shows you that it is absolutely possible to find a nutrition plan that works for you, based on your preferences and abilities. Nutrition you can LIVE with.
Elizabeth has seen that profound grief and loss deeply affect our appetite and interest in food. Our relationship with food is often a mirror of our relationship with self. The need to âeat perfectlyâ, the need to control, restrict, resist, and eliminate âbadâ foods shows up often when we are struggling with mental and physical health issues. Feeling out of control around food may be a coping strategy, burying a much deeper issue. Pairing nutrition with other therapies helps our mind and body stay balanced in the best way helping people feel their best, and be the best version of themselves.

â¨PSA â¨Therapy isnât only available for those in a crisis..
Sometimes itâs hard to admit that we need support.. society has painted a picture that we should be able to handle everything on our own with a smile. Thatâs simply not the case.
â¨Sometimes we need a safe space to organize our thoughts, feelings and emotions around a specific circumstance, life, family situation, marital dispute, fight with a best friend, you name it.
â¨Sometimes people just need help understanding themselves better and how their experiences have shaped them.
â¨Sometimes things happen unexpectedly and the mountain just seem way too big to climb alone and you need help processing
â¨Sometimes people simply know that things need to change but have not clue where to start even though they want better for themselves and their family.
â¨Sometimes people need to learn ways to communicate that they are setting healthy boundaries with their family, friends, coworkers, boss, etc.
If you have ever had to set boundaries with someone close to you, you know that it doesnât typically go well at first⌠having someone that can talk you through it and remind you youâre not crazy is huge.
â¨Sometimes you need someone to help you gain perspective on the big picture of a situation that is requiring you to make a huge decision.
Needing support around these things does not mean youâre weak, it means youâre emotionally aware. We are here when you are ready đ¤

⨠Meet Sarah Wareing â¨
âHi Iâm Sarah! I am passionate about helping people unravel and make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I primarily work with clients who have experienced trauma and are feeling lost or confused about who they truly are and how to move forward. I also enjoy working with people who want to change their relationship with drugs or alcohol. I work with adults, teens, and kids ages 12 and up.
I utilize a number of approaches to help my clients find their true selves again including IFS-informed approaches, art-based, narrative, and solution-focused therapies. I also use EMDR to help take the âstingâ out of traumatic memories that have caused my clients to question their innate value and strength.
If you are feeling lost, stuck, or desperate for someone to listen and understand, reach out to me. I honor and lean into the expertise and uniqueness of every person I work with. I would love to learn more about how I can help you achieve your goals and find purpose, meaning, and confidence in your life again.
When I am not seeing clients, I love spending time with my partner and friends, exploring new restaurants, watching documentaries, making art, and doing Pilates!
I am so excited to be a part of the Oak and Willow family! đą

Even as time moves forward, its presence lingers, shaping us in unexpected ways. Loss has a way of staying with us, subtly influencing our thoughts, feelings, and actions. None of these things are wrong, but navigating them can be really tough sometimes.
Do you have the right tools to help you work through the hard days? Do you have a person you trust that you can talk to? Do you have a community that understands what you are going through?
Loss stays with us but doesnât have to define us. At Oak and Willow, we have services that can support you no matter what stage of the grief process you are in.
Many of our clients have found solidarity through our intensives, EMDR services, somatic work, breath work, and group therapies.
We are truly here to help. Please reach out if you need guidance on where to start your journey.
Whether it has been weeks or years, there is still an opportunity to enhance your journey to hope đ¤
Loss will change you. Itâs inevitable, but itâs up to you what that new version of yourself will look like.
Therapy can drastically transform your journey through grief and loss. We are here to help you process emotions, build coping mechanisms, and potentially find new meaning as your life carries on.
So we ask you, who do you want to be on the other side of loss?
Let us help you find your strength and courage to live out your new purpose.
We are here when youâre ready đ¤
At Oak and Willow, we believe in the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being are deeply intertwined, each influencing the others in profound ways.
When we neglect one aspect of ourselves we disrupt the delicate balance that sustains us.
In our sessions, weâll explore not just your thoughts and emotions, but also how they manifest in your body and spirit.
By integrating mind, body, and spirit into our approach, weâll embark on a journey of healing and transformation that honors the fullness of who you are. Together, weâll cultivate resilience, inner peace, and a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you. đŤ
Sometimes after a session you may just need a moment to integrate, write down your thoughts, or just have a glass of water and breathe đŽâđ¨đ§đźââď¸
At Oak and Willow we have designed spaces that allow you to do just that. If you need a moment, please let us know and we will set you up somewhere comfortable to enjoy a moment to yourself before jumping back in to your day đ¤
We are here for you!
Some people LOVE to journal, others find it intimidating because they donât know where to begin. If you have experienced loss and are struggling, here are some prompts you can use to ground yourself when youâre feeling overwhelmed. đ¤
Â
1. What emotions am I currently experiencing?
2. Can I pinpoint where these emotions are manifesting in my body?
3. Was there something specific that triggered the way I am feeling? If yes, what was it?
4. Reflecting on the trigger, can I see it from a different perspective?
5. What are things I can do to reset/process my emotions next time I get overwhelmed? (i.e go for a walk, clean up, meditate, sit in the sun, take a bath etc.)
6. What were the wins I experienced today?
There is so much power in journaling and getting your feelings out of your mind/body and onto paper.
We hope these are helpful at a time you need them đ¤đż
âTo deny emotion is to be controlled by it. When it goes out of our consciousness it doesnât go away, it goes into our bodies and influences us without our awareness or consentâ -Dr. Kristi Gaultiere
Think of it this way, when we suppress our emotions it is like holding onto a beach ball underwater. No matter how hard you try to keep it submerged, eventually it will surface, often with greater force. Our emotions are meant to be felt, not buried.
When we donât acknowledge the emotions we are feeling, it is a guarantee they will show up in your body. That could look like anxiety, tightness, weight fluctuation, and even chronic illnesses.
Allow yourself to acknowledge and process them. It is no easy feat, but we are here to support you through it.
We are not a practice that will just let you vent for an hour and when the buzzer goes off send you out on your own. We provide custom care plans to guide you through your journey and give you the tools you need to function in the real world as we are unpacking your grief.
As always, we are here when you are ready đ¤đą

I am here to reach out a hand so that you donât feel like you have to walk this path alone.

Happy International Womenâs Day!
We are so fortunate to have a team of women at Oak and Willow that have made it their purpose to help enrich the lives of others and help guide them through what may be the hardest times of their lives.
There could not be a better group of women to support you on your journey to hope â¨
Meet Jenn Nelson, our owner and founder of Oak and Willow
âI work with those left behind. What does that mean? Those who are left to continue to live on, to pick up the pieces, to find a way to manage and balance life when tragedy happens. Who is that? Those who are on the other side of addiction, mental health, tragedy, loss, and trauma.
I specialize in working with Grief and Loss, specifically surrounding losing someone to su***de. I understand it on a professional and personal level and feel it is my calling and purpose to walk with people through their sorrow as they learn how to redefine life as it has been forever changed.
I also work partners, families and loved ones of addiction, betrayal/infidelity, as well as traumatic or sudden loss and complicated grief.
My goal is to provide a safe space for people to learn how to redefine life and find hope for their future.
When not at work I am with my two beautiful children as well as our 2 dogs, cat and leopard gecko. We enjoy playing games, listening to music, singing, hiking, biking, and doing anything outdoors. As long as we are together, we find a way to have fun! â
Grief is not linear đą
If you have experienced any type of grief or loss you likely have experienced the waves of different emotions that come with grief.
We are here to support you through your journey đ¤

Meet Laura Beaver â¨
If you are looking for more than traditional talk therapy, youâll be excited to meet Laura! Laura works primarily with trauma, which can manifest in many ways. Some examples are high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, chronic inability to feel content, and self-harm. Many times, people come to her because theyâve hit a wall and their coping skills are no longer working for them. Â
Laura uses a direct and gentle approach that often combines EMDR and IFS (parts work) to help clients truly understand their protective system, how itâs helped, and how to work with it for significant, lasting change and an overall sense of peace. Laura offers intensives, longer sessions, and other flexible scheduling for clients to be done with treatment faster. Â
Before doing full-time counseling, Laura was a faculty member, department leader, and director of Fontbonne Universityâs Center Against Human Trafficking and Exploitation where she researched and trained others on trauma. When sheâs not seeing clients, you can find her cheering on her four kids at their various sports, camping, reading, and running ultra-marathons.Â
Contact the Oak and Willow office for a free 15 minute consultation to find out how she can help you! đ¤

Happy Valentineâs Day from the Oak and Willow team to you!
Unfortunately, February isnât always roses and chocolates for everyone.
For those of us that have been deeply hurt, as we try to be happy for our friends and family that havenât experienced what we have, it still hurts.
Betrayal is very complex to process. Itâs not just about the betrayal, it is everything thing else that comes along with it.
Itâs the reality that in a single moment your whole world feels as if it was turned upside down for you and your family.
Please know you donât have to process it alone. If you are in the thick of it now, or have experienced betrayal in the past, itâs not too late to get the support you need.
We are here for you! âĽď¸

Join our team! â¨
We are looking for providers that are passionate about helping others navigate grief, loss and trauma.
If this is you or someone you know, please send us an email + a short video telling us a little bit about you!
(Details on slide 2)đŤśđť
Many donât consciously realize that loss comes in many different forms, not just death.
It encompasses the twists of life, shattered dreams, and transformative changes.
Having the tools to process loss is crucial to your mental health. Therapy is such a great way to add âtools to your tool beltâ so when life comes at us, itâs easier to manage and avoid deep spiraling.
There doesnât have to be a huge catastrophic event that leads you to therapy, you can start whenever you are ready, we are here for you! đżâĽď¸
Grief doesnât always follow a linear timeline. Some individuals may experience delayed grief, with symptoms emerging weeks, months, or even years after the loss.
Unfortunately, there is still a stigma associated with seeking help for mental health struggles. Around 60% of individuals donât receive the help they need.
We are here for you & accepting new clientsđ¤ find out more on our website.
