My Story

Hello, my name is Angela. In the picture above, you will see 7 of my best friends. The greatest part is that they’re my brothers and sisters. I am the youngest of 8 and love being the baby of this amazing family! My parents are ROCKSTARS for not only raising us with tough love but teaching us at a very young age that family is EVERYTHING! Being raised in a family of unconditional love, unwavering values, and hard-working ethics I feel compelled to share these attributes with the world. Growing up, my mom would always say to us kids, “You never compete with each other, you will have the rest of the world to do that with”. Those words resonate in my head and heart and drive me to the same conclusions for what FEEL THE DRUM is designed for. A platform for creating a family bond and an amazing culture of people.

I grew up in Orange County and moved to Sacramento in 1994. In Folsom, I continued doing what I loved which was teaching preschool as well as being a nanny. Working with young children always brought me joy and TRUE happiness. I felt content in knowing I was pursuing my purpose. In 2000, I met the love of my life, Kevin. We were married 10 months later and enjoying being newlyweds.

In 2003, we were so excited to find out that we were having our first son, Hunter. Hunter loved his time with us, yet he was excited to have a baby brother. In 2006 our precious Re*****on was born. Kevin and I felt so incredibly blessed to have our 2 healthy boys. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay home and raise my babies. Through the years I worked part-time while Kevin was able to be home with the boys. When the boys were in 1st and 3rd grade they attended Marble Valley Academy and I was hired to be the preschool director there. It was such a blessing to be at the same school and have them pop into my classroom throughout the day, say hello, give me a kiss, and off to class they went.

On April 11, 2017, my life was changed forever. I was 47 years old and so incredibly done with riding this roller coaster with my weight. I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life. I’ve done every “diet” imaginable. I’ve lost weight. I’ve gained it all back weight. If you've experienced this too you know how frustrating it is. My sister, Danielle insisted that I try out this new place called Impact Nutrition that she was invited to 4 days prior to me going. With much resistance, I went and tried a cardio drumming class. From that moment on I was hooked. I loved the sound and the intensity of the drumming on the balls. I loved the raw and tribal feeling you absorbed when surrounded by so many people all drumming together. I knew this was something SPECIAL. As time went on I became overjoyed with the results I was getting with my own body transformation. I truly felt strong and FIT for once in my life. I showed interest in participating and was encouraged to lead a song or two. Once that happened I started choreographing my own songs and grew confident that I could turn this into something more than just a cardio drumming class. About a year later, FEEL THE DRUM was created. Feel the Drum was now it’s own “thing”. It became a platform for a full-body, mind and soul workout. I was fascinated with the meaning behind drumming and why it was so powerful for so many. The stories people would share about how Feel the Drum classes were helping them with depression, allowing them to get off medications, and most importantly losing weight and getting healthy. With many hours of research and really understanding what I was offering my passion only grew stronger. Because, when we beat on the ball “drumming” it is a purposeful interruption of our brain waves. WE ARE DIFFERENT PEOPLE AFTER A CARDIO DRUMMING CLASS. My vision was so intensely clear. My purpose was revealed. Feel the Drum was and continues to grow into this incredible platform of NO JUDGEMENT, “just do you” and embrace becoming the best version of yourself. My desire is for everyone around the world to experience this culture that comes very organically with Feel the Drum. As we say every day in class, all you have to do is just keep showin’ up!
