✅Another patio project complete ✅
After a new deck was built last year, next on the list was to update the fire pit area. I’d say it was a good decision! Unilock Westport pavers take the cake on this one 🤩

Ephraim project is complete! This patio and wall project is made with 100% natural stone, and lots of it. Chilton walls with a Pennsylvania Blue flagstone patio and Door County grey fire ring & accents. The firepit features a smokeless ring insert to provide an enjoyable campfire experience. Power outlets installed by Massart Electric to provide superior entertainment capabilities. This project will go down as one of my favorites, natural stone forces you to be creative and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. 😎
PATIOS AND STAIRS
Turned this overgrown, unusable and outdated area into a beautiful living space. Replacement of some poorly constructed steps with a strong and sturdy stairway. Repositioned the garden shed to more efficiently use the space below for a patio with fire ring. Homeowner wanted to keep the rustic fieldstone wall so of course we worked around that and kept that as original as possible.
COMPLETE RENOVATION
We took this one from design to installation. An overgrown mess cleaned up and turned into a clean, low-maintenance landscape. We did the initial tear out and installed the much needed retaining walls around the house. Then we brought in Brooke with Spinler Scapes Landscaping to do the bed installation. Sometimes, outsourcing parts of a project can get you the best results and in this case, Brooke’s knowledge of plants is what I needed to get the homeowner everything they were looking for. Concrete curbing done by Curb Expressions, and design work done by Dylan Marquardt. Teamwork makes the dreamwork 🤩
FLAGSTONE PATIOS
This patio was all about keeping things as natural as possible. In todays world, most flagstone work is done using several saw cuts on every piece to make things fit together. By using the stones natural edge and shape, it leads to a more rustic and original looking patio. It creates a challenge and still forces a few saw cuts, but in all creates a true natural flagstone patio. Both methods are unique in their own way, just personal preference.
PLANTINGS
Commercial & residential facelifts. The use of large boulders and outcropping stone in plantings help break things up and take up space. Plants become crowded overtime and boulders/rocks help to take up the space and add a different sense of appeal. Plus, they’re maintenance free!! 😁
NEW LAWN INSTALLATIONS
Grading for drainage, prepping seed bed, hauling in topsoil (if needed), & providing cover to help the seed keep adequate moisture. All essential steps to starting a new lawn from seed, however the most crucial step is for the homeowner to provide water. Don’t depend on Mother Nature to rain every other day, luckily these two homeowners cared about their project and provided just that. Seeing quick results in the germination stage led to a nice lawn within weeks.
RETAINING WALLS
A couple simple but functional Versa-Lok retaining walls installed last season.
Merry Christmas to all of our employees, customers and followers. We are thankful to have had a great season and look forward to many more. Have a happy holiday season and we look forward to working with you in 2023!
A project from earlier this year that turned out great. We designed and built the walls surrounding the pool and had to keep everything from touching the pool itself (as this is an above ground pool not designed to bear any load from the outside.)After we built the walls and prepped the inside for concrete, Mertens Concrete poured the patio, and Zach Burgess constructed the deck to finish this party area off.
Check out this backyard transformation that was wrapped up earlier this spring. Dead Ash trees and an old sand box turned into a beautiful backyard entertainment area. With a fireplace installed to provide the enjoyment of a campfire, but eliminating the smoke factor. A few low-voltage lights really accent this element, and makes the neighbors jealous of course 😉
It is with sad hearts we share the loss of Mike Krueger, who lost a hard fought battle with cancer today. Many of our customers may have seen Mike on their properties, as he loved to lend us a helping hand whenever we needed one. Cutting grass was one of his favorite pastimes and he always jumped at the opportunity. Thank you Mike for everything you have done for us and I hope heaven has a brand new lawn mower waitin for ya 😉 Rest easy Mike.
🧊Odd job Monday…. Broke up some ice shoves and created an access ramp for our local ice guides. Ice fishing is right around the corner 👍🏻
🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄to our valued customers, employees, supporters and followers. We appreciate everything you’ve done for us in 2021! Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
🦃 HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃 we are so thankful for your support through the years and thankful to have such great customers. We look forward to a change in season, now pass the gravy please 😋
-In•tri•cate: “very complicated or detailed”
This project required some patience, detail, and perfection to come together. A tight work area posed the first challenge of getting access with equipment. The original concrete didn’t break up and come out as easy as anticipated. The circular design forced me to make numerous markings and cuts. Measure twice cut once they say. Overall, I really enjoyed this project and am beyond satisfied with the outcome. I think it’s quite the upgrade if I must say so myself 😁
Installed some planting beds around this new house in Sobieski. Also spread about 360 yds of topsoil over the sand lot to help establish the new lawn we planted. Working in different areas poses different working conditions than what we’re used to in Door County! Easy digging and way less rocks to pick out there!
Clearing/grading/drainage/shoreline/driveway prep on this one. Customer wanted a better view of the water and also a better view of the house from the water. Cleared out a bunch of trees, removed some dead ash trees, raised the grade and provided a better drainage set up of the yard. Cleaned up the shoreline and added some more protection. Also ripped out a portion of bad blacktop and prepped the base for the concrete guys.
Another new construction project we completed this summer. The homeowner had a goal to keep everything on one level so as they got older they had no steps/stairs to deal with. We continued that on the outside of the home and made everything transition smoothly. A Brussels Block patio with a circular inlay for a table and chairs, fire pit area close to the water, and some shoreline stone to prevent ice shove damage are among the main focal points on this property.
Here’s a new construction project we completed a few weeks back. Installed a privacy hedge in the corner of the property, transplanted a Fir tree, installed some shrubs and perennials around the front porch and of course graded and planted the lawn.
At a home we installed a walkway on last summer, we excavated in front of the garage and corrected the base. The previous concrete kept settling due to improper drainage and lack of a binding aggregate base. We laid geo fabric between the virgin soil and then installed 12” of crushed gravel. Compacted, let sit for a month and then came back and laid pavers rated for vehicle traffic. With the new base correction, a slope that drains water away from the garage, and use of interlocking pavers this new apron is much more stable and also adds curb appeal.
Created a more user-friendly backyard with this one. Replaced the old patio with a new Unilock Artline patio to make the space more modern and bigger of course. Tore out some old concrete and filled in some sinkholes to make the yard drain better and also prevent twisted ankles! ✅
Small French drain installed to capture and divert excess ground water that used to run into the foundation. Re-grading the area and installing the drain will work in combination to solve the issue. Simple and relatively inexpensive fix to dry things up. 💧💧
