The City of Forney is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Grace as the new Director of the Forney Economic Development Corporation. With over 20 years of experience in municipal planning and development, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role.

A Dallas native, Michael holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Oklahoma. His career includes serving as Assistant City Manager & Chief Operations Officer and Chief Economic Development Officer for the City of Ferris, TX, Managing Principal of Metro Development Consulting, Director of Unincorporated Area Services for Dallas County, and Director of Development Services for the Cities of Lancaster and Willow Park, TX, among other significant roles in both the public and private sectors.

Michael is also certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute. Additionally, Michael serves on various committees and regional boards.

City Manager Charles Daniels expressed his enthusiasm for the new appointment, stating, "We are excited to welcome Michael to the City of Forney. His extensive experience will be invaluable in driving the city’s growth and supporting our mission to build a thriving community."

Michael shared his excitement about the new role, saying, "I’m honored and energized to lead Forney’s economic development efforts. Forney offers a unique opportunity with a promising future, and I look forward to joining the team and contributing to its success."

In case you haven't seen, Dutch Bros Coffee is coming to Forney! They’ll be opening a new location at 870 N FM 548. Stay tuned for updates on the expected opening date as they finish their buildout. Get ready for some delicious coffee☕😋

Texas Health will be an excellent and valuable asset to our community! We look forward to welcoming them to the City of Forney!

Texas Health Resources, the health system that cares for more North Texans than any other, is expanding services in Kaufman County, including building a new full-service hospital and on-campus medical office building in Forney.

The new hospital, to be built on 50 acres located along Highway 80, will be the first full-service acute care hospital in the city of Forney and will be designed for additional expansion for future needs.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2027. The hospital will offer an emergency room, operating suites, a labor and delivery department, a variety of imaging services as well as additional services to provide the full continuum of care to the growing community.

The Tom Thumb Development, located along FM 741 and FM 548, is coming along nicely! We anticipate a grand opening near the end of summer as they finish up their build-out. In addition to the new Tom Thumb, some exciting tenants are joining this development, including Wings over Forney and 30 Brunch House 🛒🍴 Stay tuned, as we intend to share more updates about Tom Thumb’s progress!

Great news for Forney! Join us to learn about the exciting developments with the new Costco coming just south of FM 460. This project will greatly benefit our community by boosting the local economy and providing more shopping options.

Weather permitting, westbound US 80 will be narrowed to one lane between FM 460/Clements Drive and Lawson Road from 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25 to 5:30 a.m. Friday, July 26 as part of the ongoing improvement project.

Drivers can expect a change in the traffic pattern once this is completed, and should be cautious as traffic adjusts.

This work is part of the ongoing $129 million construction project awarded to Webber, LLC. The project is anticipated for overall completion in spring 2026, weather permitting.

TxDOT urges motorists to use caution in the work zone. Visit www.DriveTexas.org for the latest road closures on this project and others.

The City of Forney has recently approved economic incentive agreements with 3MEBS/StreetLevel Investments for the Villages at Gateway project. The Villages at Gateway, which will be located near North Gateway Boulevard and U.S. Highway 80, will be a regional hub for retail, services, and dining, catering to both Forney residents and beyond. This development will feature major retailers, including Target, HEB, and Home Depot. In addition to these major brands, the Villages at Gateway will include convenience retail, fast casual, sit-down restaurants, and more.

"We are pleased to welcome these premier retailers to our city. I'd like to express my thanks to all current and previous council members, community board members, and city staff who worked to make this project possible," said Mayor Jason Roberson.

In the upcoming meeting on July 16th, the Forney City Council will discuss and consider a resolution to grant consent for the creation of Forney Municipal Management District No. 1 in Kaufman County. This district, encompassing approximately 150 acres north of Highway 80 on both sides of Gateway Blvd, will support the development of the Villages at Gateway. As part of the development strategy, a Municipal Management District will be established to generate additional tax revenue, which will assist in covering the development costs. The creation of this district does not impose any additional tax burden on Forney residents, as it will be funded solely by the additional tax revenue generated from the development.
