๐ As a love expert, I deem that loving ourselves is just as important, if not more so, as loving our partner.

๐ Only when we love ourselves are we able to be present with our partner and truly accept their love.

๐ Loving ourselves in dating means that we feel fulfilled in our lives when single as well as in a relationship. Loving ourselves single means that we are likely to have standards in who we date.

๐ซ Being yourself means having ultimate respect for yourself and living life in a way that is authentic to you. When in a relationship, itโs so important to bring your genuine self to the relationship.

This means respecting and loving yourself enough to have boundaries and not being afraid to honor them. ๐ Being genuine and self-loving means speaking up about your needs and being open about who you are and whatโs important to you.

โฅ๏ธ Self-love is also self-acceptance; โI am who I am, I need what I need, and thatโs okโ.

๐ซ When we withhold who we really are for the sake of someone else, itโs only a matter of time before the real you surface.

Therapy can be pretty scary at first but just know that thereโs nothing you can do thatโs โabnormalโ in a session.๐

๐ข Cry. Therapy doesnโt always feel good. Sometimes it brings up feelings that make us uncomfortable and emotional. Thatโs okay. Itโs normal and I promise you arenโt alone.
โ
๐๐ Talk more than their therapists. Thereโs no such thing as talking too much. If your therapist feels like youโre getting off track they will guide you back.
โ
๐ Laugh uncomfortably. Talking about things that bring us discomfort can be awkward and many people use laughing as a coping mechanism. This is normal behavior.
โ
๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ Get distracted. Does your mind wander while your therapist talks to you? That happens. An hour is a long time to keep focus without any breaks. Itโs completely normal for your mind to wander. If you notice it, simply guide your attention back.
โ
๐ฅบ Get nervous. Given that youโre expected to air out all of your feelings to someone you might consider a stranger, nervousness is normal and expected. Keep in mind that therapy should be a safe space and everything said between you and your therapist is confidential.
โ
๐ Forget about homework. People are busy, life gets in the way, and your therapist understands. Be honest so you can work on solutions for getting things done.
โ
โณ Look at the time. Time constraints are scary. Your therapist will let you know when the time is up so try not to get too caught up with knowing how much time is left.

๐ Self-Care comes in all forms. Sometimes itโs relaxation, massages, facials, time with friends, naps, and just being with yourself. ๐โโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
But sometimes, itโs an opportunity to dig a little deeper and work on yourself from the inside out.๐ท
If today is the day you are working on your inner self-care, incorporate some of these things into your mindset, and letโs kick start that extra level of self-love. ๐คโค๏ธ

๐ง A lot of us think that healing should happen quickly, but when the healing process is rushed, do you experience true healing? ๐ No.

When you rush healing, all you are doing is making your โwound,โ deeper, which is only going to cause you to have to experience a longer healing process. ๐ฃ

๐๐The zigzagginess of healing is how it is meant to happen, so donโt let it discourage you and make you think that you arenโt healing when you are faced with times of sadness or when old feelings get stirred up inside of you.

โฃ๏ธYou can still heal and not necessarily know what you should be doing at the moment.

๐ Rest your mind as well as your body. Take a break, silence your phone at 6 pm, deactivate social media, snuggle more and eat that donut ๐ฉ

๐ง Stand outside in the rain for a few minutes (if safe).
๐ฆถWalk on the grass barefoot.
๐ Walk your dog.

๐ฑ๐ถ Pet your pets- this releases oxytocin in your brain and your petโs.
