Birds since ancient times are symbolic. This work honors this tradition. Crows symbolize death & rebirth. Cardinals signify a loving message from deceased loved ones. Both connote spiritual meaning when observed.

Crafted entirely from curbside castoffs. The body is a solid wooden furniture slat. The tail is a Midcentury Modern Norwegian candleholder & metal vintage ceramic cold water faucet. The eye is a base cap from a lightbulb. The dorsal fin is from a George Forman rotisserie. The remaining parts are kitchen utensils.

Crafted entirely from castoff, secondhand objects.

The cross is a vintage circa 1950’s Last Rites/Sick Call Kit. Originally, this kit was used by priests making house calls to parishioners. The lid would slide off to access the contents of Holy Water & candles. The lid would be displayed in a groove in the base to form an altar.
This cross is devoid of said contents & serves as decorative wall art only.

Working my heart out on my Firefighter Boot for ’s charity auction. This wonderful, not for profit charity raises funds with which to purchase shoes & backpacks for local children in need. Area artists decorate & donate retired firefighter boots, helmets & functional fire extinguishers for this cause.
My 2023 Boot is entitled “Fort Pierce Peacock.” Featured is the peacocks head & torso. It is a solid wood table leg adorned with salvaged, castoff material. The boot will be the entire body with a vintage fire screen & whirligig as its plumage. It will sit atop a 1970’s ice bucket festooned with flowers $ butterflies.

In the end, there will be over 100 hours expended on this work. It will be auctioned later this year in the autumn. Please stay tuned…
