Yesterday was the first day of school at Country Day, officially kicking off Howdy Week! We’re so excited to start the school year by welcoming our Upper Schoolers back to campus with this FWCD tradition.
Help us wish good luck to the newest alumni, the Class of 2024, on their freshman year in college! And good luck to all of our collegiate alums this year!
🌄 After 20 weeks of intense training, Missy McAdams Huffman '87 is taking on the Snowbasin 29029 Everesting climb in Utah! 🏔️ Climbing Snowbasin 13 times to match the height of Everest, she’s proving that Parkinson’s disease doesn’t define her limits. “It’s about conquering fears and showing that we can push beyond what we think is possible,” Missy said in an NBC Channel 5 interview. “I may not reach the top, but I’m going to try.” Missy will have 36 hours to tackle this challenge, starting Friday morning and ending Saturday evening. Let's cheer her on as she shows us all the true power of perseverance! 💪 Missy is the daughter of former faculty member Mona Goone McDaniel.
North Texas woman with Parkinson's plans ‘Everesting' climb A North Texas woman flew to Utah today to prepare for a big climb called ‘Everesting.’ Missy Huffman will be battling more than a mountain. NBC 5’s Noelle Walker has the story.

🎉🏅 Congratulations to Carly Walker ’24 on being named WFAA’s North Texas Buick Dealers Scholar-Athlete of the Week! Tune in on August 11 at 10:35 p.m. to see her shine! In 2024-25, Carly led as Captain of the varsity field hockey and soccer teams, won an SPC Championship in pole vault, was on the high honor roll, and served as a yearbook editor. She founded Backyard Blast, a summer camp she’s run for four years, and helped build homes in Tijuana, Mexico, with Homes of Hope. She even performed in Matilda Jr. her senior year! Good luck in college, Carly! 🌟

🔴 I enjoy seeing the students I teach get excited and engaged. There is really not a more rewarding feeling than making someone else smile or laugh because of something you said or did. Every day I teach, I get that same exhilarating and warm feeling whether it be because one of my kids understood something or simply because they are just excited to be a breakthrough.

🔴 I'm spending my summer at Breakthrough because this community means a lot to me and I want to empower these young students to believe that they can succeed in anything they put their mind to!
We love it when our alumni come back to visit! Christoph Mairesse Lietmann ‘82 recently toured the campus with his former French teacher, Claire-Lise Knecht H'06. Joining him on this nostalgic journey were his wife, Chantal, and their sons, Arthur and Samy. The family lives in Bonn, Germany.

🔴 What I love the most about being a TA is getting to make close bonds with the other TAs and TFs I’m working with and enjoying being a part of the vibrant community my team has given me.

We’re excited to officially welcome Katy Rhodes Magruder ’98 as the next president of the Alumni Council! She has been a member of the council since 2018 and has served as secretary for three years and president-elect for the past year. We can’t wait to see all the great things she will do!

✨Meet Courtney Corbeille Krauss '06✨ fourth-grade teacher and Country Day's ultimate cheerleader - both on and off the field! Courtney recently became a mom to baby Jack (pictured) and SPOILER ALERT - he's really cute!
When she's not shaping young minds, Courtney enjoys:
🧘♀️ Yoga
🏋️♀️ Pilates
🥾 Hiking
✈️ Traveling
👨👩👧👦 And hanging out with her family!
As a student at FWCD, Courtney was involved in:
📣 Cheerleading
💥 Falcon Force
🎭 And theater
Her advice to current students? Sleep now! Any drama won't last, but the sweet memories will. 💤❤
Our alumni are proof that this ain't their first rodeo! In the spirit of rodeo season, we've rounded up some photos of our alumni yee-hawing in true Fort Worth fashion! 🤠📸
Let's keep the good times rollin' and don't forget to tag in your posts so we can keep sharing these fantastic moments with our falcon family!
Yesterday, as we broke ground on the new Lower School building, our alumni reflected on the teachers who shaped our minds, the classrooms that breathed life into learning and the timeless aroma of the old building that seems to be permanently etched into our hearts (and nasal glands.) While we will never forget the memories, we are excited and united in moving Forward Together and building an even brighter legacy for future generations of falcons! ❤️
