"Franklin Forward" Update! After reviewing the survey results from the April 2024 community survey, the community was in favor of FPS exploring a referendum to update our buildings and grounds. The FPS School Board, in listening to the community's feedback on specific projects, has re-examined the scope, sequence, costs, and timeline of the originally proposed work and adjusted to a $145M referendum on the November 5th ballot.
You can see all details on our updated website (including the Board's resolution, the referendum language, an updated FAQ, FHS project phasing video, current needs videos, and more). We will continue to share more information and add to the FAQ over the next few months. Please watch for tours and listening sessions to learn more, coming this fall.

UPDATED! CBS 58 did a nice story on their afternoon news program about Kayla's Playground reopening, which included a special shout out to the Ambassadors that are part of Franklin Public Schools. It's open again! This morning, Kayla's Krew/Kayla's Playground re-opened in Franklin. Many families were on hand to hear a blessing this space and then enjoy the updated facilities! Special thanks to our own Franklin High School Construction, Woods, and Tech Innovation students that helped with various aspects of the update. They helped to construct and refine some of the new spaces and print stickers/decals for the park. Some of our FPS staff are also Ambassadors for Kayla's Playground and attended learning sessions in the spring to now volunteer to be on-site to answer questions and help to share the stories and meanings of this great space that everyone can use. Head on out and enjoy the park with family and friends!

Last week, Pleasant View Elementary School 3rd Grade visited nearby 🏠 construction by Veridian Homes as part of a "Ma➕h in Ac➕ion" partnership! At the home construction site, students toured the inside of a home in the middle of construction and took part in math activities organized by our Verdian partners.
🪚 For example, students had to figure out the area within a closet and how wide, long and tall the shelves could be. 👷
❓Students also got to ask questions about the home build -- and there were LOTS of questions and "No, it's not cotton candy!" 🍡.
👀 The students then visited a nearby model home and had small scavenger hunts to complete there as well. 🔨
👷♀️ Thank you to our partners at Veridian for helping to make math 'real' for our students in this outside-the-classroom experience!
This past weekend, our Franklin High School Construction II students held a ribbon cutting ceremony in partnership with Tim O'Brien Homes to showcase the 5th Annual home build project by students in the new Cape Crossing subdivision located in the southwest corner of Franklin. Family, friends and district leaders attended the ceremony and got to hear from students about what they learned with building this home. Instructor Mr. Andrew Mente shared how some students attained youth apprenticeships through this project and how others are planning to further their work in the trades. Thank you to Mr. Mente and Tim O'Brien homes for offering this opportunity for our students!

A 4th Grade classroom at Southwood Glen Elementary - Franklin, WI has been following the Franklin High School Girls Soccer Team this season (their teacher Ms. Gardner is an Assistant Coach and also an FHS Soccer Alum!) Last week, the 4th graders took some time to create “Good Luck” cards for the team. The soccer team then visited with the class to do some team building activities together involving building marshmallow toothpick towers. Discussions occurred around the qualities of a good team and maintaining a positive mindset. This type of connection between our older and younger students is so important to community building within Franklin!
