Congratulations Chief Nalborczyk

Congratulations, Benjamin Nalborczyk on being a High's Hometown Hero 🐄🧑‍🚒!

Six weeks ago, High's participated in 24/7 day which is a day to give back to emergency first responders but in addition to our participation, this year at High's we selected (10) winners to be local Hometown Heros at some of our local community stores. All winners were nominated by their local peers, family and friends in the community. Benjamin has served with the New Market District Volunteer Fire Company for 24 years and holds the Fire Chief position for the past 12 years. Benjamin has been a top responder for all 24 years, responding to hundreds of calls for service every year. Benjamin has even successfully overseen and led the renovation/ addition project to the fire station on West Main St. and he has overseen nearly 15 fire vehicles get a total replacement in his time as Fire Chief. Benjamin is a great model on what giving back to the community looks like with all the passion and commitment he gives daily and we are proud to recognize him as our High's Hometown Hero this week🐄⭐

This week will be joining with friends, family, and fire service members to honor the memory of John N. Carnegis who passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

After retiring as the Battalion Chief of Training from North Providence Fire Department John and his family moved to Frederick, MD, where he took a position with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. During his time with Homeland Security, John held many positions. Before retiring in 2019, John was responsible for the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer and Managing Officer programs.

John also became involved with the Frederick County Fire Service. He was a member of the Vigilant Hose Company and an instructor for the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue. He served as a member of both the Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Teams and participated in their Advanced Life Support program.

John has always been passionate about teaching the next generation of firefighters. He had the opportunity to share his knowledge when he became an instructor for the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI) back in 2008. Some of his favorite courses to teach were Hazardous Materials, Advanced Life Support, EMS, Fire Suppression, and Instructor Evaluator Disciplines. In 2023, John took on the position of MFRI’s State Programs Manager, where he managed three out of the six regional offices throughout the State of Maryland.

As John always said, “No Surrender, No Defeat.”

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, August 21st from 2-4pm and 5-7pm with a Firefighters Memorial from 7-8pm at the Resthaven Funeral Home 9501 Catoctin Mountain Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 22nd at 10:30am at Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W 7th St, Frederick, MD 21701, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

*Parking will be limited for the funeral service, further instructions will be released by Wednesday.
