We're loving ramps lately!

As adults when we're brought a difficult problem we often say something like "I'll have to play around with it." (maybe it was the last time a child brought you a broken toy)

Because that's how we problem solve, right? When presented with something difficult or new, we need time to go through the trial and error process, potentially bring in different materials or tools, maybe even consult someone else.

Our ramps, just like all of our toys and loose parts, are no different. We are playing to learn 💚

Daylight Savings tonight - that means it it's a great time to check your smoke detectors if they're battery operated!

"Look, I did another hard thing!"

Oh how we love hearing comments like this. Kids can do hard things just like the adults and big kids around them, and reminding them of that is a big part of practicing resilience.

As much as we want to be there for the children in our lives, it's a good reminder that we should not strive to be their Amazon.com, anticipating and delivering their every need.

That's why you'll hear us say "You are a kid who can do hard things!"

Loving all the spring things 💚

We're talking about recovering from negative feelings this week. Today the Grasshoppers read After The Fall. It's a delightful book by Dan Santat, a sequel to the Humpty Dumpty story with a message of resilience and a fun surprise ending.

Then we made bird airplane flyers and decorated them with pictures of things that make us feel better when we're upset. The students had so much fun testing them on the playground.
