The Goddard School
Welcome to The Goddard School! Our goal is to be a resource for families and a community where parents can share information and learn from each other.
If you wanted to learn more about inquiry-based learning, the basis of our education program Wonder of Learning™, we’ve got a book for that! Curious Blueberry the Carousel Horse follows Blueberry and her friends as their world opens up when children begin asking questions. You’ll do the same with cues throughout the book to ask your little ones open-ended questions. Plus, there’s a bonus section that provides even more inquiry-based learning prompts. Visit GoddardSchool.com to purchase a copy today!
At The Goddard School® of Urbana II, we love seeing all of the creative lunches your children bring to School. We also know that packing lunch can be tedious for many reasons. Make it a little more fun with these great lunch hacks for busy families!
🍎 Freeze foods like yogurt, apple sauce pouches and juice boxes ahead of time. They’ll thaw in time for lunch!
🍎 Use cupcake liners to separate food in lunch boxes.
🍎 Make your own crustless sandwiches with a mason jar, round cookie cutter or crimper.
🍎 Place plastic wrap over foods that may leak, like watermelon or salad dressing, in a bento-style lunch box.
🍎 Slice a slit into a banana to help your child peel it easier. Don’t slice too much because you don’t want it to brown. Extra credit: Write a cute note or draw a silly face on the banana peel with edible markers or a toothpick!
At Urbana II, we’re deep in preparation for back-to-school season! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back, but we know that the shift in routine can sometimes be hard on little ones. Here are some helpful tips to help make the transition a little easier for your whole family: https://bit.ly/4drwbBD
Summer is coming to an end and we still have some spots available. Stop on by and check out why The Goddard school is the right choice for your family.
How many bugs do you see?
We are creating our lady bugs and counting the spots.
The Goddard School® has published a book! 🎠 📘 Follow Blueberry the Carousel Horse and her friends as their world opens up when children begin asking interesting questions. This book highlights the power of curiosity, which is the basis of Goddard’s proprietary education program, Wonder of Learning™. At Urbana II, we know that by letting children ask questions and make their own discoveries, that’s when real learning happens. As you read this interactive story, you’ll see this happen in real-time with your own children. Purchase a copy today: https://bit.ly/3WN9aDv
We are making bird feeders. I wonder what bird varieties will come by for a visit?
We learned how to make butter with heavy whipping cream. Our entire day is filled with STEAM related fun activities.
Today is National Friendship Day! One of the units in our Wonder of Learning curriculum will have our students explore the question "What makes a good friend?" In this video, Goddard Students shared their answers to this inquiry!

Children experience all the same emotions as adults, but they aren’t yet equipped with the tools to handle those feelings. The first step toward understanding their big feelings is helping them learn how to recognize and name their emotions. At Urbana II we like asking open-ended questions like “What is something that makes you happy or sad?” or “Can you show me what face you make when you are happy, sad or angry?” This gives children the opportunity to share their emotions and show what they know about them. This exercise had Goddard students using emojis to identify each emotion in honor of World Emoji Day. 😊😕😆😥😴 Give it a try with your little one!

Did you know that between the ages of 2 and 5 years old, children ask an average of 40,000 questions? We say, bring them on! Our Wonder of Learning™ education program, found only at The Goddard School®, is the most innovative, well-researched program on the market, focused on how children learn best: through play, exploration and following their natural curiosity. By asking questions and finding their own answers (then asking more questions!), children develop a lifelong love of learning.

we sorted animals by color. We counted each and determined what color had the most and what color had the least animals.
The Goddard School of Alexandria (Old Town), VA, is now open! Congratulations to owners Akhil and Madhu Govil. This is the fourth location for the co-owners, who also own The Goddard School of Ashburn, The Goddard School of Ashburn Leesburg, and The Goddard School of Waldorf.
As owners & grandparents, their goal is to continue to provide a foundation of learning to all the young children in Alexandria who are the beacon of the great future. They are excited for the opportunity and look forward to serving the Old Town Alexandria community.

We are so interested in learning about seeds and how after planting and caring for them that they can grow into some amazing things.
We finally had a chance to plant our cucumber seeds. We can't wait to see what happens.
At The Goddard School®, we believe every color belongs in the world, just like every child! Our Schools are spaces where children feel loved, seen and valued for who they are because we provide a safe community where everyone belongs.
