Found An Animal? – Second Chance Wildlife Center Any animal tangled in netting, fishing line, or stuck in a glue trap. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FREE THE ANIMAL FROM A GLUE TRAP. Cover any exposed area of the glue trap with paper towels and bring it to Second Chance with the animal still on the trap.

After she graduated with a criminal justice degree, veterinary assistant Vica decided that her heart lied with veterinary medicine. After working full-time and attending college, Vica recently graduated with a degree in veterinary technology from Dallas College. She will sit for her boards soon so that she can officially become a registered veterinary technician!

Today is National Take your Cat to the Vet Day! Even if your cat is indoors only, it is still important that they see a veterinarian every year, just like you go to your primary care doctor!
Here are some things that will happen at your cat's annual exam:
- getting an accurate weight to help you make sure your cat is at a healthy weight
- listening to their heart & lungs to detect any abnormalities
- palpating their belly to feel the size & shape of the abdominal organs
- an oral exam to look at their teeth and gums (because they won't tell you if something hurts)
- an exam of their skin to be sure they aren't hiding any ectoparasites like fleas or ticks (even indoor cats can get them!)
- discussing any medical or behavioral problems they may be experiencing
- updating their vaccines, including rabies (which is not only required by law, but extremely important for the health of your cat & family!)
