The UMW Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off with an early semester concert, featuring Ustad Shafaat Khan in the premiere of his Sitar concerto, and two shorter modern Indian works.
The concert follows a year long collaboration between Mr. Khan, Dr. Robert Wells-Director the UMW Indian Music program, arranger Jason Labrador and UMW conductor Glenn Quader.
Come hear the fusion of East meets West in this special performance! ADMISSION IS FREE!
Following the triumphant all Beethoven season finale of the UMW Philharmonic Orchestra, with our good friend George...Conductor Glenn Quader, violinist Kelsey Payne, and pianist Dr. Robert Wells in the beautiful foyer of Dodd Auditorium/GW Hall.

It's a Beethoven lover's weekend! Join the UMW Philharmonic in collaboration with members of the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, as we showcase our very own UMW musicians...
Dr. Robert Wells, Director of UMW Piano Studies, joins the UMW Philharmonic Orchestra to perform the opening movement of Beethoven's iconic "Emperor" Piano Concerto. We also present UMW student and recent Grand Prize concerto contest winner Kelsey Payne, performing the sublime Romance for Violin in F Major. Plus we perform the most thrilling highlights from Symphony No. 5 in C minor. It's a celebration of UMW Music and Beethoven all the way around.

UMW Philharmonic Orchestra announces its first annual concerto competition, open to all undergraduate UMW students...1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be chosen, with the 1st place winner appearing with the Philharmonic in our February concert.
