What is the Difference between a Paralegal and an LDA?
The main difference between a paralegal and LDA is who they serve. Paralegals serve attorneys with a law firm or work independently for legal professionals. Paralegals do not work directly with the public like LDAs do. Paralegals also differ from LDAs by way of education.
The American Bar Association states paralegals are individuals who “perform specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.” Attorneys take ownership of a paralegal’s work and must supervise paralegals in their duties. In short, paralegals assist attorneys with legal legwork – whether that is preparing legal documents, organizing evidence and arguments for trial, or meeting with clients. In fact, paralegals often do most or all the case work for simple legal matters. These duties, especially as they relate to legal documents, can sometimes overlap with an LDA’s position.
California has very strict regulations detailing who may be called a paralegal, although the term is quite widespread and LDAs are often confused for paralegals. However similar their duties can sometimes be, though, the entities paralegals serve are often a giveaway for whether someone is an LDA or paralegal. Paralegals work internally for organizations such as law firms, companies, or agencies. They never work with the public in this position.
What is the difference between a legal document assistant and a paralegal? When navigating the complex world of legal services, it’s essential to understand the differences between the various professionals who can assist. Two such professionals are legal document assistants (LDAs) and paralegals. While they may seem similar at first glance, their roles, qualifications, ...

When a client lets you know how appreciative they are of the work and effort you put into working on their case it feels good. This case had so many moving parts and it was dealing with child custody and visitation issues. It feels good to know that I was able to assist someone and make a difference for them in a positive way especially when they were also dealing with an Attorney who was failing to act. What is Custody?
Custody is the care, control, and maintenance of a child. A child's parents are both presumed to be the natural and proper custodians. However, the court may be asked to determine the custody of children in some circumstances. The best interest of the child guides the court's decision. There are several types of custody:
Joint legal custody is when both parents retain joint responsibility for the care and control of the child and joint authority to make decisions concerning the child, even though the child's primary residence may be with only one parent.
Joint physical custody is where both parents share physical and custodial care of the child. Sole custody gives a parent the primary responsibility for the care of the child. That parent makes all the daily decision about his/her child's life.
What is Visitation?
A parent who does not have primary physical custody of a child is legally entitled to visitation with that child. There are exceptions to this when it is not the best interest of the child.
If the parents cannot agree to a visitation schedule, the judge will order a schedule. This can include general visitation days as well as holidays, school breaks, summer, vacations, and special occasions. The parents must bring any occasion they wish to have visitation to the judge's attention.

For me, it was learning to tap into God’s strength that is made perfect in our weakness. People often tell me they think I’m so strong, but I’m not. I just know how to run to my Father and hold on with all my might. He comforts me and lets me lean on his amazing strength. Joy
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10
“He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.”
2 Samuel 22:18-19

“By law, both parents must support their children
Parents must share the financial responsibility for raising their children. Sometimes parents can agree on how to share this responsibility without going to court. If you and the other parent can’t agree, you can ask the court for a child support order.” Contact Shepherd Clark & Associates to establish and or modify child support orders.

"Unlike postjudgment modifications of custody orders, postjudgment modifications of visitation and the parenting plan are governed by the statutory best interest of the child test, and the changed circumstance rule does not apply. Relevant factors for the court to consider in determining the best interest of the child include the health, safety and welfare of the child, any history of physical or substance abuse by either parent, and the nature and amount of contact with each parent. Fam. Code, § 3011, subd. (a). "

"The overarching concern of California's child custody and visitation law is the best interest of the child.
Where there is a final custody determination in place, a post judgment request to modify custody requires the moving party to demonstrate not just the best interest of the child but changed circumstances. Under the so-called changed circumstance rule, a party seeking to modify a permanent custody order can do so only if he or she demonstrates a significant change of circumstances justifying a modification.
Once a final custody determination has been made, the paramount need for continuity and stability in custody arrangements—and the harm that may result from disruption of established patterns of care and emotional bonds with the primary caretaker—weigh heavily in favor of maintaining ongoing custody arrangements. The changed circumstances rule fosters the dual goals of judicial economy and protecting stable custody arrangements."
