Nadi Shodhana:
Balance Your Energy, Calm Your Mind

Ever feel like your mind is racing or your energy is all over the place? Nadi Shodhana, or alternate nostril breathing, might be just what you need to bring things back into balance.

How to practice:

Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
Use your right thumb to gently close your right nostril.
Inhale deeply through your left nostril.
Close your left nostril with your right ring finger and release your thumb from your right nostril.
Exhale fully through your right nostril.
Inhale through your right nostril, then close it and exhale through your left.
Continue this pattern for several rounds, focusing on the flow of your breath.

Why it works:
Nadi Shodhana shifts the nervous system from "fight or flight" to "rest and restore" by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. It calms the mind, reduces stress, and helps bring clarity to your thoughts.

The energy channels:
The left side (Ida Nadi) represents the feminine, lunar energy—restful, restorative, and cooling. It’s all about finding your calm and grounding yourself. 🌙

The right side (Pingala Nadi) is the masculine, solar energy—fiery, active, and invigorating. It’s your source of motivation and drive. ☀️

By balancing these two energies through Nadi Shodhana, you create harmony within your body and mind. It's a simple, yet powerful practice that can transform your day.

Sitting at Your Desk More Than You’d Like?

We’ve all been there—long hours at the desk, and before you know it, your legs feel tight, and your back starts to ache. Sitting for extended periods can shorten and tighten our leg muscles, leading to some serious discomfort, especially in the lower back. But guess what? Work might be a must, but stiffness doesn’t have to be!

I’m here to share some super simple stretches that you can do right at your desk (or anywhere) to keep those muscles happy and your back pain-free. These moves are quick, easy, and will make a world of difference—even if you’re stuck at work.

Hey Friend, We Get It!

Life happens, and sometimes our yoga practice takes a back seat. Whether it’s been a few weeks, months, or even longer since you’ve been on the mat, know that we totally understand. No one here is judging you—promise!

Getting back into your flow can feel like a big step, but did you know that habits are formed through consistency? In fact, research shows that it takes about 21 days to create a new habit and roughly 66 days for it to become automatic. The key? Just showing up, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

When we make yoga a regular part of our routine, amazing things happen in our bodies and minds. Consistent practice helps improve flexibility, build strength, reduce stress, and enhance our overall well-being. Plus, it’s a beautiful way to reconnect with ourselves, especially after a break.

So, if you’ve been on a yoga hiatus, don’t worry—we’re here on the mat, ready to flow. Remember, it’s all about progress, not perfection. (P.S. I totally do this with working out too)

We’re in This Together ~

We all go through tough spots in life, and whatever you're facing, we're right here with you! Come in and flow it out. I promise, whatever's on your mind, you'll feel better when you leave. My mat is has over the years, blood, sweat, and tears (I broke my toe in a yoga training once—it was still worth it).

We don't always have to be in a good mood or chatty, and that's okay. Whether you need an intense flow to burn off some steam (sh*t) or gentle stretches to calm your mind, I’m ready to throw the mat down with you! Yoga is about embracing where we are, and sometimes that means showing up just as we are.

So, bring it all—the good, the bad, the ugly—and let’s find that balance to ground down.

Discover the Subtle energy of Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga beautifully aligns with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), offering a holistic approach to health and well-being. In TCM, Yin represents the calming, cooling, and nurturing aspects of life (Lunar~ Female Energy). Yin Yoga targets the body's deeper connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia, particularly in the hips, pelvis, and lower back. Choosing the Right Yoga Mat: A Game Changer for Your Practice:

Not all mats are created equal, especially when it comes to yoga! I've noticed many Pilates mats in our studio, and while they may look appealing due to their thickness, they're not the best choice for yoga. Here's why:

Traction and Grip: Pilates mats often lack the necessary traction on wood floors, making them prone to slipping. This can be dangerous as it increases the risk of injury. Yoga mats, on the other hand, are designed to provide grip and stability, crucial for maintaining poses and avoiding slips.

Thickness and Stability: While the thickness of Pilates mats may seem comfortable, it can actually make balanced poses more challenging. The extra padding can compromise the foot and ankle's ability to find the stability needed for balance. Yoga mats typically have the right balance of cushioning and firmness, allowing for proper support.

10-day retreats, yoga pants, silent retreats, and traveling the world in search of a spiritual awakening... What if we told you that everything you've been looking for is already inside you? 🌟
(all this stuff is super cool by the way, but not necessary)

No one is more spiritual than anyone else; our souls are equal. The journey inward reveals that all the answers are within. The true purpose of meditation, yoga, and spiritual/religious rituals is to prepare our physical bodies to receive the message that's been there all along. It's about embodying the message in the silence. This are new tools we can use to discover, explore and look within. 🕉️

Some call it intuition, some call it the universe, but whatever you name it, it belongs to you, always and forever. Trust in your inner wisdom and remember that the journey within is the most profound one. Handle it with care, sometimes all we have to do to hear it, is to listen quietly.

Tips for Your First Yoga Class:

Hey there, future yogis! Here are some fun, friendly, and nurturing tips to help you feel right at home:

1. Comfy Clothes Over Fancy Gear
No need for fancy yoga attire—think comfy, stretchy clothes that you can move easily in. So, no Lululemon necessary; your favorite cozy outfit will do just fine!

2. Go Barefoot!
Practicing yoga barefoot helps you connect with the ground and become more aware of your body. Plus, it's way more fun than wearing shoes or socks. Please leave shoes at the door, and all that stress!

3. Do What Feels Right
You’re in charge! You won’t be forced to do anything you’re not comfortable with. Feel free to modify poses or take breaks whenever you need. Childpose is available anytime!

4. No One's Watching You
Worried about being the center of attention? Relax! Everyone in class is focused on their own practice, not what's going on in room. It’s all about your personal journey.

5. Flexibility is Not a Requirement
Can’t touch your toes? No problem! Yoga is about progress, not perfection. Nobody cares how far you can stretch; what matters is that you’re here.

6. Enjoy the Journey
