It’s World Osteoporosis Day! 🦴 According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, osteoporosis affects 1 in very 3 women along with 1 in every 5 men. Osteoporosis causes bones to weaken and become more fragile. This often results in bone fractures that are responsible for thousands of injuries in the elderly that require long-term care confinement.

The best way to screen for and diagnose Osteoporosis is a DEXA scan. A dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan is painless and non-invasive, which measures the density and mineral content in bone, most often in the hip or lower spine. It is the most accurate method of determining bone density and potential problems related to bone loss. We are pleased to offer DEXA scans at our facilities to accurately provide a way for our patients to know sooner than later if Osteoporosis is affecting them.
