Yesterday aircraft assigned to the were forced to land due to an unauthorized drone flying over the fire traffic area. Drones restrict firefighters' ability to protect lives, property and natural resources. Remember if you fly, we can’t! .

It’s Friday!

The graveyard shift has it’s benefits. Cooler temperatures, clear desert skies, and stars over our heads.

As we celebrate that it’s Friday, we hope you have had great week. Stay safe this weekend by designating a sober driver. If you’re venturing into the California desert for views like these, be prepared with emergency supplies. If you’re not confident about the road you’re taking or your vehicles ability to handle the road, turn around. Make sure someone knows where you are going and when to expect you back. While here, if you consume anything that impairs you, don’t drive, even off road. Take all your trash back out with, don’t leave it for someone else. Enjoy all that California offers responsibly, don’t drink and drive!

While our graveyard officers may take a moment to enjoy the California skies, know that we are always out working for you so that everyone can go home safely. Enjoy the weekend!

Meet Our Newest K9 Team

MPD is excited to introduce Officer Henke and K9 Sam. Officer Henke has been with MPD for 2 years and K9 Sam has been with MPD for 5 years. They have been certified as our newest K9 team, since Sam's previous K9 handler was promoted. Sam is a 6 year old German Sheppard. He is certified in narcotics detection and apprehension. Officer Henke is the first female Officer to be assigned to the K9 Unit.

K9 Sam enjoys having his picture taken, good back rubs and playing fetch. 🥎🥎
