June is PTSD Awareness Month
Each June, VA raises awareness of PTSD—the condition that affects an estimated 6 out of 100 Americans and 7 out of 100 Veterans. It’s our duty, especially during this month, to educate our communities on the resources available to those affected by PTSD.
ABC30 Action News Reporter Amanda Aguilar interviewed Veteran Xeena Spellman and Dr. Trisha Barcley who shared how Veterans can get help at VACCHCS.
Coping with PTSD as a veteran According to the US Department of Veteran Affairs, around 7% of vets will experience PTSD at some point in their life.
Even mild cases of traumatic brain injury (TBI) can involve serious long-term effects.

VA Central California Health Care System celebrated a monumental day in history—the birth of the United States Army, the oldest and largest branch of the U.S. military. 🇺🇸 The Center for Development and Civic Engagement passed out cake on the front steps as we commemorated this special occasion.
The U.S. Army celebrated its 249th birthday on June 14. Formed in 1775 during the Revolutionary War and commanded by General George Washington, the Army fought valiantly against Britain. These days, the Army defends our country around the clock, with soldiers stationed across the globe.
Today, we honor the countless individuals who have served in the Army, selflessly defending our freedoms and safeguarding our nation.
For those of you who have served, we want you to know … this is a place where you will always be welcomed. VA Central California Health Care System is here to ensure that you receive the support, care, and services you deserve. Thank you for your service.
Father's Day is celebrated every year on the third Sunday of June. It is a day to celebrate fathers and the crucial role they play in their children's lives.
Father's Day was first celebrated on June 19, 1910. It was officially recognized as a holiday in 1972 by President Nixon.
Due unforeseen circumstances, the VACCHCS Juneteenth Event scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2024, has been canceled.
We regret the inconvenience!
📣 We had a wonderful time hosting a resource table today at VA Fresno Medical Center to let Veterans and the community know that the VA is here for them! We shared information on various resources and services available to support our Veterans.
And in case you missed it, we were at the Pride Parade in Fresno’s Tower District on June 1, and we continued the Pride celebration at the festival at Fresno City College.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about how we can assist you. 🌈
