Plenty of ups and downs, including an interruption to plans to see play live at last night…(not to mention frustration with the company not willing to make their mistakes right…) and no shortage of analysis paralysis… but in the end, I’m not gonna panic. Wow! Yesterday was quite a day! Hats off to for yet another amazing and competition. We had a blast!

Also, I need to make sure everyone knows how incredibly awesome the volunteers were!!! I was so fortunate to be pouring next to the kindest and most helpful individuals last night! Having a wonderfully helpful and energetic cheerleader, aka my husband was incredible! Having Winery friends April and Terry there to help pour was also such a great help! 😍

Today I took a break from some of the wine stuff… Honestly, it’s been a while since I was in a baking mood… but it was a nice distraction from some of the business stuff… 🤭🫠

FALL 2023 WINE CLUB Hello Wine Club Family! There are all sorts of things to look forward to in the fall! Simple things like football, kids going back to school, family gatherings, cooler weather, leaves changing colors, and of course WINE CLUB SHIPMENTS!

A few weeks ago I asked what y’all would like to see us post more of… lots voted for “recipes and pairings”. Y’all…this is difficult for me because I have very few actual recipes! Things sort of fall out of my pantry/fridge, into a pan, grill or whatever, and onto a plate. Sometimes it’s a fold, a flop a fail, and sometimes it’s flippin fantastic. Like today. Fantastic. Do I have a recipe? No. I do not… I have the following things that may or may not ever work again if I tried… Most importantly, Step 1. Open Middle C Cab Franc, pour 5oz into a glass to allow it to breathe a tad while you work. Taste for good measure… Step 2. Cut gold Yukon potatoes that might’ve otherwise gone bad into wedges. Soak in cold water. Sip wine again to be sure it’s still present. Step 3. Throw together the following “stuff” in a large bowl… minced garlic from a squeeze bottle(whatever’s left), concentrated chicken broth from another squeeze bottle (whatever doesn’t look like too much). Take another sip of that wine you opened just to see if anything’s changed since a few minutes ago… then back to the bowl… juice from half a lemon , a few generous shakes of Greek herb blend, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Step 4. Sip the wine and refill if your hubby started tasting along with you without you noticing… Toss potato wedges to coat. Step 5. Throw in air fryer basket and set somewhere between 350-375 (I can’t read the writing on mine) for 13 min and taste test wine again… start Step 6. In a small bowl, whisk a few spoon fulls of Greek yogurt, a little sour cream to cut the yogurt flavor, a squeeze of minced garlic from earlier (whatever you can still eek out), take a drink of wine before hubby finishes it all… a little more Greek herb blend, another half a lemon squeeze, salt and pepper to taste. Step 7. Throw in fridge and hope it works out…. Sip wine to help your nerves… Step 8. Check back on potato wedges and shake the basket. Turn temp up a little as necessary and readjust timing based on softness. When done, dip in the yogurt mixture and drink wine. So, did I nail it? 🤔😂

With weather as hot as it is here in Texas, I’m looking for refreshing and clean sips… poolside, beachside whatever side. I’m moving through whites and rosés a lot quicker. How about you? Time to restock yet?

Does it matter what kind of glass you use to drink your favorite wine!?

The answer is about as complicated as you want it to be. While we’ve read that that some scientists didn’t find any proof that the glass mattered… we personally feel like if it matters to YOU, then it matters.

Various glass shapes, sizes, even weight WILL enhance or diminish aromas/flavors in wine.

What’s the bottom line though?
IMO… Choose a glass that YOU like! Red solo cup heading out to the pool? Thin lipped glass so there’s less in the way? A large bowled glass, narrow at the top to allow for ultimate swirling?

Whatever works best for you… Whatever improves YOUR tasting experience… That’s the RIGHT choice.

For the record… I have done extensive wine glass testing with ALL of my wines and lots of others. But i never stop learning. For now, I know that I like a very thin lipped glass, different shapes for different wines and I have an ultimate favorite brand for sure. I almost always reach for a glass.

I am still so thrilled by our 2019 Merlot - Interlude. This varietal has gotten a bum rap in times past, thanks in part to a certain movie with catchy one liners… but times are changing and Merlot seems to be making quite the lip-smacking comeback. If you haven’t thought to try Merlot in a while, you might want to add it to the list again.

I hear so many varying opinions and thoughts on different wines. I hear all sorts of things! Some people say they’ll only drink European wine, California wine, Texas wine, expensive wine, cheap wine, fruity wines, earthy wines, only wine from certain vintages, even NO wine… and while I may not share the same thoughts or feelings… nor do I share the exact same tastebuds… I do respect when you know what you like! I also respect when you’re still trying to figure out what you like!
