We are looking for an LPC or LICSW-PIP to join our practice. The LPC or LICSW-PIP will provide counseling services to children and families in person. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to working with individuals who are experiencing emotional and relational issues. We are looking for a therapist who can effectively formulate goals with clients, helping them identify solutions and reach their full potential. We prefer someone paneled with insurance but willing to help the right person with credentialing.

Responsibilities:
-Practice independently and in collaboration with other staff in the office
-Provide psychological counseling to individuals, couples, family.
-Perform psychoeducational assessments of patients.
-Provide psychological assessments and evaluations of patients.
-Know the ethical standards of practice and will be supported by staff.
-Work with other professionals to promote client well-being.
-Educate clients on psychoeducational information
-Work collaboratively with other health care professionals to fulfill the client's health-related needs.

Requirements:
-State of Alabama Board Certified
-Master's degree
-Insurance eligible
-20 billable hours per week (negotiable)

Just some thoughts for this day....

1) every single person on this planet has mental health...some have good mental health, others’- not so much. Either way, we all have mental health just like we all have dental health and physical health.

2) not everyone who goes to therapy has a mental health “problem”. Some want to stay on top of their mental health. Processing is good for the soul.

3) people talk about all kinds of s**t in therapy. It’s not always heavy, but sometimes it’s deep.

4) go see your therapist! If you don’t have a therapist, get one!

If you’re experiencing depression, anxiety whether mild or extreme please print this out and put it somewhere in your house!!..
This checklist can stop rumination and depressive thinking in its tracks. This type of “stinking thinking”/cognitive distortion can lead you constantly to dark places.. Here’s what you do.
When a negative/emotional/irrational thought happens, find the type of distorted thinking it falls under. Next step, CHALLENGE IT with a rational rebuttal. Sometimes it helps to pretend you are responding to the thoughts of a close friend.
FINAL STEP: It’s very important to write it down. Don’t try to think through it...only by writing it down can you maintain objectivity...
