The Etowah County Schools are aware of various posts on social media that are concerning in nature and we have been in touch with the Etowah Sheriff's Office and know of no credible threats. Our schools will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow with heightened awareness and increased law enforcement patrols. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.
Safer Schools Together (SST) has informed our local School Resource Officers and Board of Education Officials of a Snapchat school shooting threat circulating throughout school communities across multiple states.
School Resource Officers and School Officials are now seeing it circulate across North America via Instagram and TikTok.
The primary text seen in this Snapchat image is "hug your loved 1s tmr might be the last hug you’re getting."
Given the mass distribution combined with the added on-screen text seen in these screenshots, we are confident this is a spam Snapchat image.
Our School Resource Officers and Board of Education will continue to work closely to address any immediate concerns raised.
It has always been and will continue to be our goal to protect and keep safe our best assets, our children!
This morning at Whitesboro Elementary, our 3rd graders delved into the history of 9/11, uncovering the significance of this pivotal event. It was a powerful learning experience as they explored and understood a key moment in our nation's story. 🇺🇸📚
